Turbocharger RH: Removal

NOTE:
The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. When removing any turbocharger or engine air intake system component, ensure that no debris enters the system. Failure to do so may result in damage to the turbocharger.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
- Remove the engine crossmember. Refer to: Engine Crossmember .
- Remove the starter motor. Refer to: Starter Motor .
- Remove the air conditioning (A/C) compressor belt.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors, then detach the harness retainer.
- Remove the bolts and the wiring harness bracket, then move the air conditioning compressor out of the way.

NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Remove and discard the right catalytic converter flange nuts.

- Remove and discard the left catalytic converter flange nuts.

NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
Remove and discard the gasket.

NOTE: Use a 3/8" Jiffy-Tite® quick disconnect tool, close the tool around the tube, press the tool into the fitting and rotate until the tool is fully seated into the fitting.
Disconnect and remove the turbocharger coolant return tube.
- Disconnect the turbocharger control hose.
- Remove the bolt for the turbocharger tubes.
- Remove the upper turbocharger oil tube assembly bolts.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger mounting bolts, then remove the turbocharger coolant supply tube from the block fitting while removing the turbocharger.

NOTE: Use a 3/8" Jiffy-Tite® quick disconnect tool, close the tool around the tube, press the tool into the fitting and rotate until the tool is fully seated into the fitting.
Disconnect the turbocharger coolant supply tube from the turbocharger fitting and remove the turbocharger coolant supply tube. Remove the turbocharger.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger gasket.
- Remove the turbocharger exhaust flange studbolts and the turbocharger exhaust flange. Discard the turbocharger exhaust flange studbolts.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger exhaust flange gasket.

NOTE: Whenever the turbocharger is removed or replaced, always install a new turbocharger fitting and oil filter assembly.
Remove the lower turbocharger oil tube assembly bolt and the turbocharger oil tube assembly.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger fitting and oil filter assembly.
