Section 3 (Engine - 3.5L ECOBOOST (235KW/320PS)): Removal: Engine

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
- Remove the following items:
- Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
- Refer to: COOLING MODULE .

- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector and detach the retainer.
- Disconnect the fuel vapor tube quick release coupling.
- Loosen the clamp and remove the CAC outlet pipe.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose, loosen the clamps and remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose, loosen the clamp and remove the RH TC inlet pipe.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose, loosen the clamp and remove the RH TC outlet pipe.

- Disconnect the PCV tube quick release coupling.
- Loosen the clamp and remove the LH TC inlet pipe.
- Loosen the clamp and remove the LH TC outlet pipe.
- Remove the screw and noise insulator.
- Disconnect the brake vacuum tube.
- Remove the bolts and position the degas bottle.
- Disconnect the PCM.

- Disconnect the heater and degas bottle hoses.
Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- If equipped. Disconnect the block heater electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainers.
- Disconnect the heater and degas bottle hoses.
- Follow directions to release the quick release coupling type 2. Disconnect the heater hose. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling
.
- Remove the nuts and disconnect the A/C tubes.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainers.
- Follow directions to release the quick release coupling type 10. Disconnect the fuel line. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling
.
- Remove the following items:
- Refer to: Starter Motor .

NOTE: RH and LH.
Refer to: Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) .

NOTE: RH and LH.
Refer to: Catalyst Monitor Sensor .

- Position the protective cover aside.
- Remove the generator B+ terminal nut.
- Disconnect the generator electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainer.
- Remove the ground wire cover.
- Remove the nut and position the ground wire and remove the pin-type retainer.
- Disconnect the heater hose and position aside.

- Remove the bolts and position the ground wires.
- Remove the pin-type retainers.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the bolt and detach the wiring harness retainer.
- Remove the wiring harness conduit bolt and the heater hose pin-type retainer.
Vehicles equipped with dual generators
- Remove the A/C compressor.
- Remove the accessory drive bracket stud and bolt.
- Remove the bolts and the accessory drive bracket.
- Remove the bolt, detach the wire harness and position aside.
Vehicles equipped with single generator
- Remove the nut, detach wiring harness conduit and position the harness aside.
Vehicles with front axle
- Remove the axle assembly. Refer to: Axle Assembly .
- Remove the bolts and the support bracket.
- Remove the pin-type retainer and position the vent tube.
All vehicles
- Remove the nut and position the harness aside.

- Remove the upper coolant hose.
- Follow directions to release the quick release coupling type 2. Disconnect the coolant hose. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Remove the pin-type retainers and hoses.
- Remove the retainers and the access cover.

NOTE: Using the crankshaft pulley bolt, turn the engine clockwise.
Remove and discard the torque converter nuts.
- Remove the exhaust flange bolts and detach the exhaust hanger.
- Remove and discard the RH catalytic converter flange nuts.

- Remove and discard the LH catalytic converter flange nuts.
- Position the catalytic converter assembly aside and remove and discard the gasket.

- Remove the oil pan plug and drain the engine oil.
Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
Torque: 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)
- Remove and discard the oil filter.
- Remove the oil pan plug and drain the engine oil.
- Remove the lower bellhousing bolt.
- Position the exhaust back and install the stand under the transmission bellhousing.
Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands
- Remove the upper bellhousing bolts.
- Remove the LH side bellhousing bolts and the shift cable bracket.
- Remove the RH side bellhousing bolts.
- Detach the ground wire retainers and position aside.
- Position the powertrain lift table under the engine crossmember and support the front of the oil pan with wood blocks.
Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block
- Install the adjustable mounting arm to the LH side of the engine crossmember.

- Install the adjustable mounting arm to the RH side of the engine crossmember.
Use the General Equipment: Adjustable Mounting Arm
- Remove the pin-type retainer the bolt and the LH wheel liner.
- Remove and discard the LH engine crossmember bracket bolts.
- Remove and discard the bolts and remove the LH engine crossmember bracket.
- Remove the pin-type retainer the bolt and the RH wheel liner.
- Remove and discard the RH engine crossmember bracket bolts.
- Remove and discard the bolts and remove the RH engine crossmember bracket.
- Remove and discard the engine crossmember bolts.
- Separate the engine from the transmission.
- Using the powertrain lift table lower the engine from the vehicle.
- Install a commercially available quick links and a floor crane.

- Remove and discard the engine mount nuts.
- Using the floor crane, lift the engine from the engine crossmember.
