Oil Pan: Installation
- Apply a 9 mm (0.35 in) bead of Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone to the 2 crankshaft engine front cover-to-cylinder block joint areas.
Material: Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone / TA-357 (WSE-M4G323-A6)

NOTE: The oil pan and the specified bolts must be installed and the oil pan aligned to the cylinder block within 4 minutes of sealant application. Final tightening of the oil pan bolts must be carried out within 60 minutes of sealant application.
Apply a 5 mm (0.20 in) bead of Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone to the sealing surface of the oil pan.

- Apply a 9 mm (0.35 in) bead of Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone to the 2 crankshaft seal retainer plate-to-cylinder block joint areas on the sealing surface of the oil pan.
Material: Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone / TA-357 (WSE-M4G323-A6)

NOTE: The oil pan and the specified bolts must be installed within 4 minutes of the start of sealant application.NOTE: Keep the oil pan as close as possible to the transmission while installing, then slide forward towards the engine front cover to prevent wiping off of the sealant.
Install the oil pan and the bolts finger tight.

NOTE: Do not torque at this time.
Draw the transmission and engine together using the bolts.
Vehicles equipped with front axle assembly

NOTE: Do not torque at this time.
Install the oil pan stud.

NOTE: Do not torque at this time.NOTE: Access to the bolt is limited.
Install the oil pan bolt.
Vehicles equipped without a front axle assembly

NOTE: Do not torque at this time.
Install the oil pan bolts.
All vehicles

NOTE: Do not torque at this time.
Install the oil pan bolt.
- Tighten the oil pan bolts.
Torque: 27 lb.in (3 Nm)

NOTE: If equipped with dual generators it will be necessary to obtain a W503297 (10mm HEX) M8 X 1.25 X 35 bolt and washer to replace the accessory bracket bolt during the oil pan tightening process.
Install the engine front cover bolts finger tight.
- Install the remaining oil pan bolts and tighten in sequence.
Torque:
Stage 1: Tighten bolts 1 through 14 to: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)
Stage 2: Tighten bolt 10 an additional: 90°
Stage 3: Tighten bolts 15 and 16 to: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

NOTE: If equipped with dual generators, after the tightening sequence is completed, the W503297 (10 mm HEX) M8 X 1.25 X 35 bolt and washer will be removed to accommodate installation of the accessory bracket.
Tighten the engine front cover bolts.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

NOTE: Vehicle without a front axle assembly shown in illustration, with a front axle assembly similar.
Tighten the oil pan and bellhousing bolts.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Tighten the oil pan and bellhousing bolts.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Tighten the bellhousing bolts.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- With the aid of an assistant, install the engine crossmember and the bolts.
Torque: 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)
- Position back the ground wire and install the retainers.

NOTE: RH shown in illustration, LH similar.
Install the RH and LH engine mount bolts from the bottom of the engine crossmember.
Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
- Remove the stands.
Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

NOTE: RH shown in illustration, LH similar.
Install the RH and LH engine mount nuts.
Torque: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)
- Install the oil cooler and the retainer.
Torque: 43 lb.ft (58 Nm)

NOTE: Do not lubricate the engine oil filter gasket.
Install a new oil filter.
Torque:
Stage 1: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
Stage 2: 180°
- Install the coolant lines pin-type retainers.
- Install the coolant line pin-type retainer.

NOTE: If equipped with dual generators.
Remove the engine front cover bolt.
Vehicles equipped with dual generators
- Position back and attach the wire harness, install the bolt.
Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
- Install the accessory drive bracket, stud and bolts hand tight then tighten in the sequence shown in illustration.
Torque: Bolt 1: 28 lb.in (3.2 Nm)
Stud 2: 28 lb.in (3.2 Nm)
Bolt 3: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
Bolt 4: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
- Tighten the accessory drive bracket fasteners.
Torque: Bolt 1: 35 lb.ft (47.5 Nm)
Stud 2: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
- Install the A/C compressor.
Vehicles equipped with single generator
- Install the stud bolt.
Torque: 27 lb.in (3 Nm)
- Position back and attach the wire harness, install the bolt.
Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
- Attach the retainer and connect A/C compressor electrical connectors.
- Remove the wiring harness nut.
Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
All vehicles
- Install the lower load path bars and retainers.
Torque: 1: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)
2: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Install the shield and retainers.
Torque: 1: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
2: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
- Install the following items:
- Refer to: Starter Motor .
- Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
- Install the oil level indicator.
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Specifications .
- Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery - Vehicles With: Single Battery . Refer to: Battery - Vehicles With: Dual Batteries .
