Fuel Pump and Sender Unit: Removal

- Remove the fuel tank. Refer to: Fuel Tank .
- Disconnect the vapor tube and fuel feed line quick release couplings and position aside. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling

- Remove the nuts and the helmet.

NOTE: The fuel pump and sender unit must be handled carefully to avoid damage to the float arm.NOTE: To avoid introducing contamination into the fuel tank use compressed air to clean the fuel pump and sender unit connections, couplings, flange surfaces and the immediate surrounding area of any dirt or foreign material.NOTE: Some residual fuel may remain in the pump and sender unit. Carefully drain into a suitable container.
Using the special tool rotate the lock ring counter clockwise, remove the lock ring and the fuel pump and sender unit.
Use Special Service Tool: 310-123 Locking Ring, Fuel Tank.
- If necessary, insert a screwdriver into the empty rod hole and slightly pull the screwdriver inboard until the base of the fuel pump and sender unit clears the mounting flange.
