Pinpoint Test CB: U3003:17
- NOTE: DTC U3003:17 may be stored in the module memory due to past battery charging or vehicle jump starting events.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition IPC U3003:17 Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Above Threshold Sets in continuous memory and on-demand in the IPC if the IPC detects battery voltage above 16 volts when the engine has been running for longer than 1 second. Possible Sources
- Charging system concern
- IPC
- CB1 CHECK FOR CHARGING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the self-test.
- Retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.
Are any charging system Diagnostic Trouble Coes (DTCs) recorded in more than one module?
Yes DIAGNOSE the overcharging condition. REFER to: Charging System - 3.5L Duratec (202kW/275PS) . or REFER to: Charging System - 3.5L EcoBoost (235kW/320PS) . No GO to CB2 - CB2 CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE
- Turn off all interior/exterior lights and accessories.
- Start and run the engine at approximately 2, 000 rpm for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage.
Does the battery voltage rise to 15.5 volts or higher?
Yes DIAGNOSE the overcharging condition. REFER to: Charging System - 3.5L Duratec (202kW/275PS) . or REFER to: Charging System - 3.5L EcoBoost (235kW/320PS) . No GO to CB3 - CB3 RECHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U3003:17
- Turn the engine off.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Carry out the IPC self-test.
Is DTC U3003:17 present?
Yes Install a new IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) . No The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set previously during battery charging or while jump starting the vehicle.
