Seatbelt Minder Deactivating/Activating

Activation

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this information, refer to Safety Warnings in General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

NOTE: The driver and passenger seat Belt-Minder® deactivating/activating can be carried out using a diagnostic scan tool.

NOTE: If you are using a MyKey® programmed key, the Belt-Minder® cannot be disabled and does not time out after 5 minutes. If the Belt-Minder® has been previously disabled, it is re-enabled when a MyKey® programmed key is used.

NOTE: The driver and front passenger Belt-Minder® are deactivated/activated independently. When deactivating/activating one seating position, do not buckle the other position.

Apply the parking brake before deactivating/activating the Belt-Minder®.
Place the selector lever in P.
Place the ignition OFF.
Unbuckle the driver and the front passenger seat belts.
Place the ignition in RUN (do not start the engine).
Wait until the seat belt warning indicator turns off (approximately 1 minute).
NOTE: Steps 7 and 8 must be completed within 60 seconds.

NOTE: Buckle and unbuckle the seat belt at a moderate rate. If the seat belt buckle/unbuckle/buckle sequence is carried out too quickly, the RCM can fail to recognize one of the sequences and the procedure must be repeated.

For the seating position to be disabled, buckle then unbuckle the seat belt 3 times at a moderate speed, ending with the seat belt in the unbuckled state. After this step the seat belt warning indicator turns on.
While the seat belt warning light is on, buckle then unbuckle the seat belt at a moderate speed. The seat belt warning light flashes for confirmation.
After confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete.
