Message Center Warning Messages
Airbag Malfunction
The IPC provides a display to indicate an internal airbag indication failure. If the IPC detects a failure in the airbag warning indicator after receiving the airbag indicator request, the message center displays the airbag malfunction warning message and sounds a warning chime. The IPC receives the airbag indicator request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the airbag indicator request from the RCM over the HS-CAN2.
Auto High Beam (If Equipped)
The IPC provides the auto high beam indicator to inform the driver the auto high beam function is turned on. The IPC also provides front camera message displays for a poor visibility concern or camera malfunction.
The IPMA sends the camera status display to the GWM over the HS-CAN2. The GWM sends the camera status display to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to display the front camera malfunction and service required warning messages.
Brake Pad Wear
The IPC provides a warning message to inform the driver that the brake pads are showing wear, and will require replacement soon. The brake pads will have enough life left in them to allow the customer to schedule a service appointment. The IPC receives the brake pad wear message request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the brake pad wear message request from the ABS module over the HS-CAN2.
Brake System
The IPC provides brake system displays for low brake fluid level, parking brake applied, electric park brake concerns and ABS concerns that display along with the brake warning indicator operation.
When the parking brake is applied, the BCM sends the parking brake warning indicator request message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends the parking brake warning indicator request message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the brake warning indicator. Once the parking brake warning indicator request message has been received and the brake warning indicator illuminated with the vehicle in motion, the parking brake warning message is displayed. If the condition is not corrected, the IPC sounds the parking brake warning chime along with the brake warning indicator and the parking brake message center message display.
When a concern is detected with the electric park brake (if equipped), the ABS module sends the park brake (yellow) warning indicator request message to the GWM over the HS-CAN2. The GWM sends the park brake (yellow) warning indicator request message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to display the warning message, and illuminate the brake warning indicator yellow.
When a low brake fluid level condition exists, the BCM sends the brake fluid level warning message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends the brake fluid level warning message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the brake warning indicator and turn on the brake fluid level low message in the message center.
When an ABS concern exists, the ABS module sends the brake (red) warning indicator request message to the GWM over the HS-CAN2. The GWM sends the brake (red) warning indicator request message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the ABS warning indictor, brake warning indicator and to turn on the traction control off message in the message center.
Charging System
The IPC provides message center displays indicating the status of the charging system. The IPC receives the power system status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the power system status message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1 to display the over-voltage and low battery voltage message center warnings.
Adaptive Cruise Control (If Equipped)
The IPC provides message center displays indicating the need for driver intervention and system status. The adaptive cruise control messages are supplemental to the adaptive cruise control indicator.
The IPC receives the forward collision alert radar blocked message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the forward collision alert radar blocked message from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.
Door Ajar Indication
The IPC provides a message center display to indicate the vehicle is on with a door ajar and engine running or when the auto stop/start system has turned off the engine. The BCM monitors each of the ajar inputs and sends a door ajar status message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends a door ajar status message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to display door ajar warning message.
Engine Over-Temperature
The IPC provides a message center display to indicate the engine is over-temperature. The PCM sends the engine over-temperature message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends the engine over-temperature message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to move the temperature gauge to full hot and display the engine over-temperature message center warning.
Engine Service
The IPC provides powertrain malfunction (wrench) displays to indicate a transmission malfunction, engine malfunction or fuel cutoff system malfunction. The IPC receives the engine servcie indication message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the engine service indication message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1 to turn on the appropriate powertrain malfunction message.
Factory-Transport Mode
During vehicle build, some modules, such as the IPC and BCM, are set in factory mode. When in the factory mode, the IPC displays FACTORY MODE CONTACT DEALER in the message center. If the vehicle is set in factory mode, the system does not automatically exit the mode and must be manually set to either the transport or normal operation mode.
When the vehicle build is complete, the vehicle is set to transport mode. While in transport mode, the IPC displays TRANSPORT MODE CONTACT DEALER in the message center. Transport mode reduces the drain on the battery during longer periods where the vehicle is not used. Various systems may be altered or are disabled when in the transport mode. The vehicle automatically reverts to normal operation mode after being driven 201 km.
The IPC receives the factory mode and transport mode messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the factory mode and transport mode messages from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.
Forward Collision Alert
The IPC provides a message center display to indicate a forward collision alert system malfunction or forward radar is blocked. The IPC receives the forward collision alert radar blocked and forward collision alert message request messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the forward collision alert radar blocked and forward collision alert message request messages from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.
Hill Start Assist System
The IPC provides a message center display to indicate the status of the hill start assist system. The IPC receives the hill start assist status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the hill start assist status message from the ABS module over the HS-CAN2.
Lane Keeping Alert System
The IPC provides a message center display to indicate the status of the lane keeping alert system. The IPC receives the lane keeping alert system status display and camera status display messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM receives the lane keeping alert system status display and camera status display messages from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.
Low Washer Fluid Level
The low washer fluid warning indicator switch is hardwired to the IPC through a single signal circuit and is grounded through a separate ground circuit. The IPC provides a reference voltage to the washer fluid level switch. When the washer fluid level is low, the washer fluid level switch closes to ground, pulling the reference voltage low. When the IPC detects the washer fluid input is pulled low, the IPC displays the low washer fluid level warning message.
MyKey® Function
The IPC provides message center setup and message displays for the MyKey® feature.
Parking Aid System
The IPC provides message center display to indicate a parking aid malfunction and service is required. The IPC receives the parking aid fault message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the parking aid fault message from the PAM over the HS-CAN1.
Stability-Traction Control System
The IPC provides a stability-traction control system message in the message center to indicate the traction control is disabled. When certain conditions exist such as wheel speed sensor failure, control valve failures, communication failures or low battery voltage in the ABS, the ABS module sends the stability/traction control indicator request message to the GWM over the HS-CAN2. The GWM sends the stability/traction control indicator request message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the ABS warning indicator, brake warning indicator, stability/traction control indicator (sliding car icon), stability/traction control disabled indicator (sliding car OFF icon) and turns on the traction control off message in the message center.
Starting System
The message center provides a starting system message to inform the driver of further actions required to start the engine or to explain the reason or inability to start the engine. The IPC receives the starter control message request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the starter control message request from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
