Battery Disconnect and Connect

Disconnect 

Disconnecting the battery ground cable to interrupt power to the vehicle's electrical system only 

1. Release the trim pins and remove the cargo cover.

2. De-energize the high voltage battery. Refer to: High Voltage System De-energizing .
3. Remove the stud and position the negative battery cable aside.

   Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)

4. Insulate the cable terminal end with the tape.

   Disconnecting the battery cables 

5. De-energize the high voltage battery. Refer to: High Voltage System De-energizing .
6. Remove the underhood storage compartment. Refer to: Underhood Storage Compartment .
7. • Disconnect and position the electrical connector aside.
   • Loosen, but do not remove the nut. Position the negative battery cable aside.

     Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

8. Position the positive battery cable terminal cover aside.

9. Loosen, but do not remove the positive battery cable terminal nut.

   Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

Connect 

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
