Brake Vacuum Pump - 2.3L EcoBoost (231kW/314PS)/2.3L EcoBoost (257kW/350PS) - MI4: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the cowl vent panel Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille

    (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).

  2. Remove the 5 bolts, 4 nuts and the cowl extension.

    Torque: Bolts: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm) Nuts: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

  3. Remove the 3 bolts and bracket.

    Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)

  4. Remove the 4 nuts and the engine appearance cover.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  5. Detach the fuel line bracket from the intake manifold.

  6. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview
  7. Remove the bolt and detach the ground wire from the cylinder head.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    1. Detach the wiring harness retainer.
    2. Remove the 2 retainers, the brake vacuum pump cover and the high pressure fuel pump cover.

  8. Release the coupling and disconnect the vacuum tube.

  9. Remove the bolts and vacuum pump.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  10. NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

    Inspect the brake vacuum pump housing gasket and replace as necessary.
