Pinpoint Test BA: The Vehicle Dynamics (Damper Control) RTT (RECONFIGURABLE Telltale) Is Never On

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Vehicle Dynamics (Damper Control) RTT. REFER to: Message Center - System Operation and Component Description .

    If the suspension driver mode status message is missing or deemed invalid by the IPC for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the vehicle dynamics (damper control) RTT to the last indication state (on or off), based upon the last message received.

    If the suspension driver mode status message is missing or if the data is deemed invalid by the IPC for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the vehicle dynamics (damper control) RTT off.

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • Vehicle dynamics concern
    • GWM concern
    • IPC

  2. BA1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION

    • Ignition ON.

    • Close all doors, the hood and luggage compartment lid.

    • Clear all message center warnings by pressing the OK button for each warning present.

    • Monitor the door ajar RTT.

    • Open the driver door.

    • Clear the message center popup warning.

    • Monitor the door ajar RTT.

    Is the door ajar RTT off with the door closed, and on with the door open? 

    Yes  GO to  BA2
    No  INSTALL a new IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .

  3. BA2 VERIFY THE VEHICLE DYNAMICS SYSTEM OPERATES CORRECTLY

    • Verify the vehicle dynamics (damper control) system operates and changes state using the switch.

    Does the vehicle dynamics (damper control) system operate and change state using the switch? 

    Yes  GO to  BA3
    No  DIAGNOSE the vehicle dynamics system. REFER to: Vehicle Dynamic Suspension

  4. BA3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
    No  GO to  BA4

  5. BA4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network
    No  DIAGNOSE the vehicle dynamics system. REFER to: Vehicle Dynamic Suspension
