Rear Quarter Window Glass Adjustment - Convertible

Adjustment 

All adjustments

View 

  1. Open the door and lower the convertible top.

    1. Open the door.
    2. Lower the convertible top.

  2. Raise all the windows to the full up position.
  3. If equipped, remove the RTM. Refer to: Radio Transceiver Module (RTM)
  4. Remove the rear quarter panel speaker.
  5. Remove the access plug.

  6. Remove the rear quarter panel speaker bracket.

    1. Remove the nuts.

      Torque

      : 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

    2. Remove the stud bolt.

      Torque

      : 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

    3. Detach the retainers and position aside the wiring harness.
    4. Remove the rear quarter panel speaker bracket.

  7. Close the door.

    Up/Down, Fore/Aft adjustment 

  8. Measure the gap between the front door window glass edge and the rear quarter window glass edge should be 9.8 mm +/- 1.5 mm.

    1. Measure at the rear of front door glass 7.5 mm from the base of the outer belt moulding. Record the measurement. The gap between the front door window glass edge and the rear quarter window glass edge should be 9.8 mm +/- 1.5 mm.
    2. Measure at the rear of front door glass 7.5 mm from the top of the front door window glass. Record the measurement. The gap between the front door window glass edge and the rear quarter window glass edge should be 9.8 mm +/- 1.5 mm.

  9. Subtract the measurements recorded in the previous step. The variance between top to bottom of the front door window glass edge to the rear quarter window glass edge should be +/- 1.0 mm.

    1. If the measurements are not within range or the variance between top to bottom of the front door window glass edge to the rear quarter window glass edge is greater than +/- 1.0 mm the rear quarter window glass must be adjusted.

  10. Measure at the top of front door glass to top of the rear quarter window glass. Record the measurement. The measurement should be between 0 mm to 1 mm resulting in the rear quarter window glass being level or higher than the front door window glass.

  11. Adjust the rear quarter window glass as necessary.

    1. Loosen the rear quarter window glass bolts enough to permit movement.
    2. Adjust the rear quarter window glass as necessary.

  12. Measure at the top of front door glass to top of the rear quarter window glass. Record the measurement. The measurement should be between 0 mm to 1 mm resulting in the rear quarter window glass being level or higher than the front door window glass. If the measurement are not within range the rear quarter window glass must be adjusted.

  13. Measure the gap between the front door window glass edge and the rear quarter window glass edge should be 9.8 mm +/- 1.5 mm.

    1. Measure at the rear of front door glass 7.5 mm from the base of the outer belt moulding. Record the measurement. The gap between the front door window glass edge and the rear quarter window glass edge should be 9.8 mm +/- 1.5 mm.
    2. Measure at the rear of front door glass 7.5 mm from the top of the front door window glass. Record the measurement. The gap between the front door window glass edge and the rear quarter window glass edge should be 9.8 mm +/- 1.5 mm.

  14. Subtract the measurements recorded in the previous step. The variance between top to bottom of the front door window glass edge to the rear quarter window glass edge should be +/- 1.0 mm.

    1. If the measurements are not within range or the variance between top to bottom of the front door window glass edge to the rear quarter window glass edge is greater than +/- 1.0 mm the rear quarter window glass must be adjusted.

  15. NOTE: Take care not to influence the position of the rear quarter window glass when tightening the bolts.

    Tighten the rear quarter window glass bolts.

    Torque

    : 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

    In/Out adjustment 

  16. Close the convertible top.

  17. Raise all the windows to the full up position.
  18. Open the door.

  19. Check the relative position of the rear quarter window glass to the convertible top rear quarter window glass seals. Make sure the division bar seal enters the convertible top seals completely when the quarter window glass is raised to full up position and engages the door glass without clipping.

  20. Lower the convertible top.

    1. Lower the convertible top.
    2. Close the door.

  21. Raise all the windows to the full up position.
  22. Adjust the rear quarter window glass/regulator assembly as necessary.

    1. NOTE: These two jack screws adjust the in/out pitch of the rear quarter window glass at the base near the quarter panel.

      Loosen the rear quarter window glass/regulator assembly nuts and adjust the jack screws as necessary until the rear quarter window glass is with specification.

    2. NOTE: This jack screw adjusts the in/out pitch of the rear quarter window glass at the convertible top.

      Loosen the rear quarter window glass/regulator assembly nut and adjust the jack screw as necessary until the rear quarter window glass is with specification.

  23. Close the convertible top.

  24. Raise all the windows to the full up position.
  25. Open the door.

  26. Check the relative position of the rear quarter window glass to the convertible top rear quarter window glass seals. Make sure the division bar seal enters the convertible top seals completely when the quarter window glass is raised to full up position and engages the door glass without clipping.

  27. NOTE: Take care not to influence the position of the rear quarter window glass when tightening the nuts.

    Tighten the rear quarter window glass/regulator assembly nuts.

    Torque

    : 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

    All adjustments 

  28. Lower the convertible top.

    1. Lower the convertible top.
    2. Close the door.

  29. Raise all the windows to the full up position.
  30. Measure at the top of front door glass to top of the rear quarter window glass and record the measurement. The measurement should be between 0 mm to 1 mm resulting in the rear quarter window glass being level or higher than the front door window glass. If the measurement are not within range the rear quarter window glass must be adjusted.

  31. Measure the gap between the front door window glass edge and the rear quarter window glass edge should be 9.8 mm +/- 1.5 mm.

  32. NOTE: Repeat steps 7 through 15 until the rear quarter window glass within specification.

    Subtract the measurements recorded in the previous step. The variance between top to bottom of the front door window glass edge to the rear quarter window glass edge should be +/- 1.0 mm.

    1. If the measurements are not within range or the variance between top to bottom of the front door window glass edge to the rear quarter window glass edge is greater than +/- 1.0 mm the rear quarter window glass must be adjusted.

  33. Close the convertible top.

  34. Raise all the windows to the full up position.

  36. NOTE: Repeat steps 19 through 24 until the rear quarter window glass within specification.

    Check the relative position of the rear quarter window glass to the convertible top rear quarter window glass seals. Make sure the division bar seal enters the convertible top seals completely when the quarter window glass is raised to full up position and engages the door glass without clipping.

  37. Install the removed components.
