Rear Bumper Cover - GT500 Mach 1: Removal

All vehicles 

1. Remove the rear wheels and tires. Refer to: Wheel and Tire
2. Remove the bolts.

   Torque

   : 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

3. Remove the trim pins, the bolts and the rear underbody panel.

   Torque

   :1: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

   2: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

4. On both sides. Remove the push pins.

5. On both sides. Remove the push pins and position the fender liner aside.

6. On both sides. Remove the push pin, the screws and the fender lip moulding.

   Torque

   : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

7. On both sides. Remove the screw.

   Torque

   : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

8. Remove the rear lamp assemblies. Refer to: Rear Lamp Assembly

   Vehicles with cellular phone antenna 

9. NOTE: RH side cellular antenna.

   Disconnect the RH cellular antenna cable from the wiring harness and push the grommet through the vehicle body.

10. NOTE: LH side cellular antenna.

    Disconnect the LH cellular antenna cable from the wiring harness and push the grommet through the vehicle body.

    All vehicles 

11. On both sides. Remove the bolt and release the tab.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

12. With the help of an assistant. Position the rear bumper cover aside for access to electrical connector.
    1. Release the sides of the rear bumper cover from the side brackets.
    2. Lift up and release the rear bumper cover from the outer rear brackets.
    3. Release the center of the rear bumper cover from the rear brackets and position aside.

13. Disconnect the rear bumper wiring harness electrical connector.

14. With the help of an assistant. Remove the rear bumper cover.

15. On both sides. Inspect the side bracket for damage.

16. If required, on both sides. Remove the screws and the rear bumper cover side bracket.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

17. Inspect the rear brackets for damage.

18. NOTE: LH side only.

    If required. Remove the screws and the rear bumper cover outer rear bracket.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

19. NOTE: RH side only.

    If required. Remove the screws, disconnect the wiring harness retainer and remove the rear bumper cover outer rear bracket.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

20. If required. Remove the screws, pin-type retainer and the rear bumper cover center rear bracket.

    Torque
