Pinpoint Test BH : P2531:00, P2533:1F

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to: Electric Powertrain Control - System Operation and Component Description .

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
SOBDMC P2531:00 Ignition Switch Run Position Circuit Low: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets when the BCM sends a key-on CAN message but the hard-wired signal indicates the circuit is open or shorted to ground.
SOBDMC P2533:1F Ignition Switch On/Start Position Circuit: Circuit Intermittent This DTC sets when an intermittent short is detected on the ignition switch circuit.

    Possible Sources

    • Wiring, terminals or connectors
    • BCMC

  2. BH1 CHECK THE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) ISP-R CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect Inverter System Controller (ISC) C1458A.

    • Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C1458A-K2

      Ground

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?

    Yes  GO to  BH2
    No  REPAIR the open circuit.
  3. BH2 CHECK THE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) ISP-R CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect BCMC C1035B.

    • Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C1035B-47
      GFD513961Courtesy of FORD MOTOR COMPANY
      C1458A-K2

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

    Yes  GO to  BH3
    No  REPAIR the open circuit.
  4. BH3 CHECK THE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) ISP-R CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    • Ignition ON.

    • Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C1458A-K2
      GFD513962Courtesy of FORD MOTOR COMPANY
      Ground

    Is any voltage present?

    Yes  REPAIR the short circuit.
    No  GO to  BH4
  5. BH4 CHECK FOR LOW VOLTAGE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

NOTE: They key cycle is very important, the DTC will not clear unless a key cycle is completed.

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Connect Inverter System Controller (ISC) C1458A.

    • Connect BCMC C1035B.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Wait 15 seconds.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the Inverter System Controller (ISC) self-test.

Are DTCs P2531:00 or P2533:1F present in the Inverter System Controller (ISC)?

    Yes  GO to  BH5
No  Refer to Pinpoint Tests Z: Intermittent .
  6. BH5 CHECK FOR CORRECT AN INTERMITTENT WIRING CONCERN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all Inverter System Controller (ISC) connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the Inverter System Controller (ISC) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

Yes  INSTALL a new BCMC. REFER to: Body Control Module C (BCMC) .
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
