Cooling Module: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  3. Drain the electric cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Filling and Bleeding .
  4. Evacuate the A/C system. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging - Vehicles With: R1234YF Refrigerant .
  5. Remove the radiator grille opening panel. Refer to: Radiator Grille Opening Panel .
  6. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

    Remove the condenser inlet and outlet nuts and disconnect the fittings.

    Torque: Stage 1: 80 lb.in (9 Nm) - - Stage 2: 155 lb.in (17.5 Nm)

  7. Disconnect the coolant hoses quick release coupling.

    • Detach the coolant hose retainer.

    • Detach the wiring harness retainer.

    • Remove the bolt and position the degas bottle aside.

      Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  8. Disconnect the electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainers.

    • Disconnect the coolant hose quick release coupling.

    • Release the clamp and disconnect the coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  9. Remove the bolts and position the secondary degas bottle aside.

    Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  10. Release the clips and remove the radiator air deflector.

  11. Release the clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  12. Release the tabs and position the auxiliary coolant pump aside.

  13. Release the clamp and disconnect the lower radiator hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  14. Release the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  15. Remove the cooling module.
