Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Remove the differential pressure feedback EGR sensor. Refer to: Differential Pressure Feedback Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Sensor .
    1. Remove the fastener.
    2. Remove the EGR inlet tube nut.

    • Remove the fasteners.

    • Remove the EGR valve inlet tube.

    • Remove the gasket and discard.

  5. Loosen the EGR valve bracket fasteners.

  6. Disconnect the upper cooling hose from the EGR valve assembly. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  7. Remove the fasteners and EGR valve outlet tube.

    • Remove and discard the EGR tube o-ring seal and gasket.

    • Disconnect the EGR valve electrical connector and detach the retainer on the EGR valve bracket.

    • Remove the EGR valve bracket fasteners.

  10. Lift the EGR valve to gain access to disconnect the lower coolant hose on EGR valve assembly then remove EGR valve. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  11. Remove the EGR valve mounting fasteners and remove the EGR valve.
