Coolant Pump: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
    • Detach the coolant hose retainers.

    • Release the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

    • Remove the bolt and position the degas bottle aside.

  3. Loosen the coolant pump pulley bolts.

  4. NOTE: Do not pull the engine appearance cover forward or sideways to remove. Failure to press straight upward on the underside of the cover at the attachment points may result in damage to the cover or engine components.

    Remove the stud nuts and the engine appearance cover.

  5. Remove the bolt (Enhanced Hexalobular or TORX PLUS ® Acument Intellectual Properties, LLC as the owner) and the shield.

  6. NOTE: Make sure the accessory drive belt is positioned so coolant can not contaminate the belt.

    Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counter clockwise and position the accessory drive belt.

  7. NOTE: Cover the A/C belt to prevent coolant contamination of the belt.

    Completely cover the A/C belt with waterproof plastic.

  8. Remove the bolts and the coolant pump pulley.

  9. Remove the bolts and the coolant pump.

  10. Inspect the O-ring seal and replace if necessary.
