Transmission Park by Wire Manual Release

Activation 

  1. NOTE: If the vehicle has a discharged battery, an external power source is required.

    Apply the parking brake.

  2. Open the console door

  3. Remove the console mat.

  4. NOTE: Use a screwdriver no longer than 120 mm (4.7244 in).

    Using a screwdriver, pry up and remove the access panel.

  5. NOTE: Use a screwdriver no longer than 120 mm (4.7244 in).
    NOTE: The brakes must be applied from the driver's seat while releasing the vehicle from park.

    While applying the brakes, use a screwdriver and rotate the release from park cable lever until the detent locks.

  6. While applying the brakes, release the parking brake.

Deactivation 

  1. NOTE: If the vehicle has a discharged battery, an external power source is required.

    Apply the parking brake.

  2. NOTE: The brakes must be applied from the driver's seat while releasing the vehicle from park.

    While applying the brakes, insert the screwdriver into the MPR (Manual Park Release) lever slot. Push the screwdriver downward until the detent unlocks. The lever will move forward allowing the vehicle to go back into the P position.

  3. Install the access panel.
