Cylinder Head RH: Installation
- Install the cylinder head gasket.

NOTE: If the cylinder head is replaced, a new secondary timing chain tensioner will need to be installed.NOTE: Install new cylinder head bolts.
With the aid of an assistant, install the cylinder head and the new bolts.
Torque: Stage 1: 177 lb.in (20 Nm) - Stage 2: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm) - Stage 3: 90° - Stage 4: 90° - Stage 5: 45°
- Install the M6 bolt.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

NOTE: The valve tappets must be installed in their original positions.
Lubricate the valve tappets with clean engine oil and install.

NOTE: Do not use power tools to remove the bolt or damage to the upper RH timing chain guide may occur.
Install the RH timing chain guide and the bolt.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil and install the CMP sensors and the bolts.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

- Connect and attach the direct injection wiring harness electrical connector.
- Connect the RH CMP sensor electrical connectors.
- Connect the CHT sensor electrical connector.

- Position the wiring harness and install the bolt.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
- Attach the wiring harness retainer.
- Position the wiring harness and install the bolt.

NOTE: Make sure that a new fuel rail to fuel rail high-pressure fuel tube is installed.
- Install the fuel rail to fuel rail high-pressure fuel tube and finger tight the flare nuts.
- Tighten the flare nuts in the following 3 stages.
Torque: Stage 1: 62 lb.in (7 Nm) - Stage 2: 89 lb.in (10 Nm) - Stage 3: If the torque required to tighten any flare nut on the new high-pressure fuel tube reaches or exceeds 75 Nm (55 lb-ft), the high pressure fuel tube must be discarded and replaced with another new high-pressure fuel tube: 30°
- Install the following items:
- Install the RH camshafts. Refer to: Camshafts .
- Install the RH catalytic converter. Refer to: Catalytic Converter RH .

- Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
- Install the oil drain plug.
Torque: 19 lb.ft (26 Nm)
- Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

- Using brake cleaner, clean the drain trough. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
Material: Motorcraft® Metal Brake Parts Cleaner / PM-4-A, PM-4-B
- Wipe the drain trough clean.
- Using brake cleaner, clean the drain trough. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

- Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil and install and tighten in 2 stages.
- Stage 1: Install to initial gasket contact.
- Stage 2: Tighten 3/4 to 1 turn.
- Install the rear underbody shield, bolts and the pin-type retainers.
Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)
- Install the cowl panel. Refer to: Cowl Panel .
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Specifications .
- Connect the battery ground. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect . .
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- Pressurize the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Start and check the exhaust system for leaks.
