Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) Oil Control Solenoid: Removal

NOTE: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

RH (right-hand) Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) Oil Control Solenoids 

  1. Remove the upper air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe RH .
  2. Remove the CAC intake pipe RH side. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe .
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  4. Remove the bolts and the RH VCT oil control solenoids.

    Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

    LH (left-hand) Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) Oil Control Solenoids 

  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors. Disconnect the PCV tube quick connect coupling and position the tube aside. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING - 3.0L .

  6. Remove the bolts and the LH VCT oil control solenoids.

    Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
