Fuel Tank: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation steps.
  1. Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
  2. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to: Fuel Tank Draining .
  3. Remove the drive shaft. Refer to: Rear Driveshaft .
  4. Remove the bolt and detach the retainer clips. Position the wiring harness aside.

    Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  6. Remove the quick release couplings and fresh air tube from the canister. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING - 2.3L .

  7. Use transmission jack. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
  8. Remove the bolts and lower the fuel tank approximately 8 inches.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (47 Nm)

    • Detach the retainer clip and Lower the fuel tank another 8 inches approximately, to allow access to quick release coupling above rear subframe.

  9. Remove the quick release couplings. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING - 2.3L .
