Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the bolts and the heat shield.

    1. Remove the cooler tube bracket bolt.
    2. Remove and discard the bolt and disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes.

  3. Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube secondary latches.

  4. Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid cooler. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).

  5. Remove the fasteners and the underbody shield.

  6. Completely loosen the transmission fluid cooler tube fittings.

  7. Remove the nut and the rear transmission fluid cooler tube assembly.

  8. Inspect the transmission to be sure the transmission fluid tube seals and backing rings were removed with the transmission fluid tubes and are not stuck in the transmission. If the transmission fluid tube seals or backing rings are stuck in the transmission, remove the seals and backing rings.

  9. Remove the fasteners and the underbody shield.

  10. Completely loosen the transmission fluid cooler tube fittings and remove the bracket bolt.

  11. Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube secondary latches.

  12. Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes and remove the tubes.

  13. Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to: Front Bumper Cover .
  14. Remove the pushpins and the upper radiator air deflector.

  15. Remove the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler bolts.

  16. Remove the headlamp assemblies. Refer to: Headlamp Assembly .
  17. Remove the bolts and the reinforcement panel.

  18. Remove the bolts and the front bumper.

  19. Disconnect the impact severity sensors, the hood ajar switch, the ambient air temperature sensor and the horn electrical connectors. Detach the wiring harness retainers.

  20. Open the hood latch cable connector cover.

  21. Disconnect the hood latch cable.

  22. Remove the bolts and the front module carrier.

  23. Release the clamps and disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler.

  24. Remove the bolts and the transmission fluid cooler front tube assembly.
