Pinpoint Test G: B1B36:08, B1B36:31 And B1B36:1F

  1. G1 CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PAM self-test.

    • Check the PAM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the self-test.

    Are Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) for multiple front parking aid sensors recorded? 

    Yes  GO to  G2
    No  * For Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) B1B36:08, 1B36:31, or B1B36:1F GO to  G3
    * For all other PAM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), Refer to the DTC Chart: Parking Aid Module (PAM) .
  2. G2 CHECK THE FRONT BUMPER WIRING HARNESS

    • Inspect the front bumper wiring harness for opens, shorts, grounds or corrosion.

    Is the front bumper wiring harness OK? 

    Yes  GO to  G3
    No  REPAIR or INSTALL a new front bumper wiring harness.
  3. G3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE SENSOR

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect right front outer parking aid sensor C1908.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 9.5 volts? 

    Yes  GO to  G4
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  4. G4 CHECK FOR GROUND AT THE SENSOR

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the voltage greater than 9.5 volts? 

    Yes  GO to  G5
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  5. G5 CHECK THE SENSOR FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect right front outer parking aid sensor C1908.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Ground

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G6
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  6. G6 CHECK THE SENSOR FOR A SHORT TO POWER

    • Ignition ON.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Ground

    Is any voltage present? 

    Yes  REPAIR the affected circuits.
    No  GO to  G7
  7. G7 CHECK THE SENSOR FOR A SHORT TO VREF OR SIGNAL RETURN CIRCUITS

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect PAM C4226B.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G8
    No  REPAIR the affected circuits.
  8. G8 CHECK THE SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect right front outer parking aid sensor C1908.

    • Disconnect PAM C4226B.

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  G9
    No  REPAIR the affected circuit.
  9. G9 INSTALL A KNOWN GOOD SENSOR

    • Connect PAM C4226B.

    • Install a known good sensor for the suspect right front outer parking aid sensor. Refer to: Front Parking Aid Sensor  .

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the PAM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repeat the self-test.

    Is DTC B1B36:08, B1B36:31 or B1B36:1F still present? 

    Yes  GO to  G10
    No  INSTALL a new right front outer parking aid sensor. Refer to: Front Parking Aid Sensor  .
  10. G10 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all PAM connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. Refer to: Parking Assist Control Module (PAM)  .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
