Instrument Panel Upper Section: Removal

All vehicles 

1. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to: Instrument Panel  .
2. NOTE: Upper instrument panel storage tray with speaker shown in illustration, others similar.

   If equipped, release the clips and remove the instrument panel speaker grille. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

   Remove the bolts, release the clips and remove the upper instrument panel storage tray.

   • Disconnect the electrical connector. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

4. Remove the steering column shrouds. Refer to: Steering Column Shrouds .
5. Remove the 2 bolts, release the clips and remove the IPC trim panel.

   Torque

   : 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

6. Remove the bolts and the IPC.
   • Disconnect the electrical connector.

     Torque

     : 21 lb.in (2.4 Nm)

7. NOTE: FCIM with touchscreen shown in illustration. FCIM without touch screen similar.

   Remove the bolts and the FCIM.

   • Disconnect the electrical connectors

     Torque

     : 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

   Remove the nuts and the IPMB.

9. Remove the bolts and the instrument panel lower finish panel.

   Torque

   : 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

10. NOTE: Instrument panel center trim panel with floor console shown in illustration, without floor console similar.

    Release the clips and remove the RH instrument panel center trim panel.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

13. Remove the bolts and the FCDIM.

14. Remove the two bolts and the APIM.
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors

17. Remove the bolts and the ACM.
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

      Torque

      : 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

18. Release the clips and remove the RH register finish panel.

19. Release the clips and remove the LH register finish panel.
    • NOTE: If equipped.

24. Disconnect the steering column electrical connectors, release the harness retainer and position aside the harness.

25. Disconnect the lower steering column electrical connectors, release the harness retainers and position aside the harness.

26. WARNING: Do not reuse steering column nuts. This may result in fastener failure and steering column detachment or loss of steering control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).
    NOTE: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate or damage to the clock spring may occur.
    NOTE: Harness shown in illustration, removed for clarity.
    1. Remove and discard the bolts.

       Torque

       : 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

    2. Remove and discard the nuts.

       Torque

       : 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

27. Disconnect the electrical connectors, release the harness retainers, and position aside the electrical harness.
    1. Remove the bolts, the push pin and the HVAC duct.

       Torque

       : 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

    2. Remove the bolts.

       Torque

       : 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

    3. Disconnect the electrical connector.

28. Disconnect the electrical connectors, release the harness retainers and position aside the electrical harness.
    1. Remove the bolts.

       Torque

       : 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    2. Remove the bolts.

       Torque

       : 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

    3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
