Pinpoint Test BJ: The Ignition-Engine On Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. BJ1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Unbuckle the driver seatbelt.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  BJ2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test BQ 

  2. BJ2 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR INDICATION

    • Open the driver door.

    • Observe the door ajar warning indicator or door ajar RTT.

    Does the door ajar warning indicator or door ajar RTT turn on with the driver door ajar? 

    Yes  GO to  BJ3
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test U 

  3. BJ3 CHECK THE PRNDL OPERATION

    • Shift the transmission range selector through the ranges while observing the PRNDL indication.

    Does the PRNDL indication match the selected transmission range? 

    Yes  GO to  BJ4
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test AH 

  4. BJ4 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  Refer to DTC Chart: IPC in this article. Refer to DTC Chart: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)  .
    No  GO to  BJ5

  5. BJ5 PERFORM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  Refer to: Body Control Module (BCM) .
    No  GO to  BJ6

  6. BJ6 PERFORM THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the TCM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  Refer to: DTC Chart and Pinpoint Tests - 3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS) .
    No  GO to  BJ7

  7. BJ7 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCMKOEO self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  Refer to: Electronic Engine Controls .
    No  GO to  BJ8

  8. BJ8 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  Refer to: Communications Network .
    No  INSTALL a new BCM. Refer to: Body Control Module (BCM) .
