Pinpoint Test CN: U3003:17

  1. CN1 CHECK FOR OVERCHARGING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) SET IN OTHER MODULES

    NOTE: DTC U3003:17 may be stored in the module memory due to past battery charging or battery jump starting events.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform self-test on all modules.

    • Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.

    Is DTC B1317, B1676, P0563 (PCM), U3003:17 or U3006:17 set in more than one module? 

    Yes  DIAGNOSE the overcharging condition. Refer to: Charging System .
    No  GO to  CN2

  2. CN2 CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE

    • Turn off all interior/exterior lights and accessories.

    • Start and run the engine at approximately 2, 000 rpm for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage.

    Does the battery voltage rise to 15.5 volts or higher? 

    Yes  DIAGNOSE the overcharging condition. Refer to: Charging System .
    No  GO to  CN3

  3. CN3 RECHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U3003:17

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the continuous memory DTCs.

    • Carry out the IPC self-test.

    Is DTC U3003:17 present? 

    Yes  A guided routine is not applicable for this vehicle and market. Replace the component that was faulted through diagnosis.
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set previously during battery charging or while jump starting the vehicle.
