Pinpoint Test BQ : The Diesel Exhaust Fluid Level Warning Chime Never Or Always Sounds

  1. BQ1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Unbuckle the driver seatbelt.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  BQ2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test CB 

  2. BQ2 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
    No  GO to  BQ3

  3. BQ3 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Electronic Engine Controls- 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel .
    No  GO to  BQ4

  4. BQ4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network .
    No  GO to  BQ5

  5. BQ5 CHECK FOR DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID LEVEL MESSAGE CENTER WARNINGS

    • Verify the message center is displaying diesel exhaust fluid level warning messages indicating the diesel exhaust fluid level is low or contaminated.

    Does the message center display diesel exhaust fluid level warning messages indicating the diesel exhaust fluid level is low or contaminated? 

    Yes  If the chime never sounds, Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
    If the chime always sounds, the system is operating correctly at this time. The diesel exhaust fluid chime is used in combination with the message center warnings and the diesel exhaust fluid level indicator or RTT indicator.
    No  If the chime never sounds, the system is operating correctly at this time. The diesel exhaust fluid chime is used in combination with the message center warnings and the diesel exhaust fluid level indicator or RTT indicator. If the chime always sounds, Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
