Rear Bumper Cover: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the rear lamp assemblies. Refer to: Rear Lamp Assembly
  2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview
  3. Remove the screws.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

  4. Remove the screws.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

  5. On both sides. Remove the push pins and position the fender liner aside.

  6. On both sides. Release the retainers, the clips and position the rear quarter panel moulding aside.

    Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  7. Disconnect the rear bumper harness electrical connector.

  8. On both sides. Remove the push pin.

    1. Remove the push pins.
    2. If equipped. Remove the screws.

      Torque

      : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

  9. With the help of an assistant. Remove the rear bumper cover.

    1. Position the luggage compartment weatherstrip aside.
    2. Release the sides and rear of the rear bumper cover from the side and rear brackets.
    3. Using a non-marring tool, release the center of the rear bumper cover from the rear bracket.

    4. Release the trim pins.

  10. On both sides. Inspect the side brackets for damage.

  11. If required, on both sides. Remove the screws, the trim-pin and the damaged side brackets.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

  12. Inspect the rear bracket for damage.

  13. If required. Remove the screws, the trim-pin and the rear bracket.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)
