Pinpoint Test BJ: The Hazard Indicator Or RTT (RECONFIGURABLE Telltale) Indicator Is Never Or Always On (HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle))

If the HEV battery warning indicator request or the HEV transmission warning indicator request message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the hazard RTT indicator to the last indication state (on or off), based upon the last message received.
If the HEV battery warning indicator request or the HEV transmission warning indicator request message is missing for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the hazard RTT indicator on.

- BJ1 IDENTIFY THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) LEVEL

Is the vehicle equipped with a base IPC?
Yes GO to BJ3 No GO to BJ2 - BJ2 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- Close all doors, liftgate and hood.
- Clear all message center warnings by pressing the OK button for each warning present.
- Monitor the door ajar RTT warning indicator.
- Open the driver door.
- Clear the message center popup warning.
- Monitor the door ajar RTT warning indicator.
Is the door ajar RTT warning indicator off with the door closed, and on with the door open?
Yes GO to BJ4 No GO to Pinpoint Test A - BJ3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND
- Access the IPC and control the HEV_HZRD_LMPPID
- Command the HEV hazard warning indicator on and off while observing the indicator.
Does the HEV hazard indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off?
Yes GO to BJ4 No GO to BJ7 - BJ4 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to the IPC DTC Chart. No GO to BJ5 - BJ5 PERFORM THE SOBDMC (SECONDARY ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC CONTROL MODULE C) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the SOBDMC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - INTRODUCTION (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID) No GO to BJ6 - BJ6 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to: Communications Network No If the hazard RTT indicator is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time. There are currently no vehicle concerns present that require the hazard RTT indicator. If the hazard RTT indicator is always on, DIAGNOSE the BECM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REFER to: High Voltage Battery, Mounting and Cables - Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) - BJ7 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the IPC connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the IPC connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
