Block Heater: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  3. Remove the starter motor. Refer to: Starter Motor .
  4. NOTE: Make sure the block heater wiring is routed and secured away from rotating or hot components.

    Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.

    NOTE: Do not loosen the block heater retaining screw more than necessary for removal. The nut can fall off inside the engine and damage the cooling system.
  5. Loosen the block heater retaining screw and remove the block heater.

    Torque: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)
