Transmission Case: Disassembly

1. Remove the breather fitting.
2. Check to make sure the breather fitting O-ring was removed with the breather fitting. Remove the breather fitting O-ring if needed.

Remove the transmission case magnet.

Using a soft face hammer and a punch, remove the dowel pins. Use the General Equipment: Copper Hammer. Use the General Equipment: Punch

1. Remove and discard the shift lever dampener roll pin.
2. Remove the shift lever dampener.
3. Remove the shift lever dampener shaft spacer.
4. Remove the shift lever dampener shaft.

1. Remove and discard the shift lever dampener shaft seal.
2. Remove and discard the shift lever dampener shaft bushing.

Remove the transmission case bearing screws.

NOTE: Inspect the input shaft and counter shaft bearings for wear or damage. Install a new bearing as necessary.
1. Using a bearing cup driver, remove the input shaft bearing.
2. Using a bearing cup driver, remove the counter shaft bearing.

Remove and discard the front case shift shaft bushings.

NOTE: The fill plug will be installed after the transmission assembly.

Remove the transmission fill plug.

1. Remove and discard the selector lever roll pin.
2. Remove the selector lever.
3. Remove the selector lever shaft.
4. Remove and discard the selector lever shaft roll pin.

Remove and discard the rear counter shaft bearing.

1. Using a soft face hammer and punch, remove and discard the mid plate shift shaft bushings. Use the General Equipment: Copper Hammer. Use the General Equipment: Punch
2. Using a bearing cup remover, remove the mid plate bearing cups. Replace as necessary.

Clean and inspect the front and rear transmission cases and the mid plate. Replace components as necessary.
