Pinpoint Test L: Transmission Leaks

• Lubricant 
  • Check the transmission fluid level and type. Correct as necessary. REFER to: Transmission Fluid Level Check 

• Other component leaking 
  • Verify the type of fluid leaking. If it is a fluid other than transmission fluid, refer to the appropriate service information for further diagnosis.

• False report 
  • Clean all traces of fluid from the exposed transmission surfaces and surrounding components. Check the transmission vent for free breathing. Road test the vehicle, then inspect for new leakage. Repair as necessary.

• Internal transmission components 
  • Check for leaks at the input shaft seal. Inspect the transmission case for porosity or cracks. Repair as necessary.

• Fill and drain plugs 
  • Check for leaks at the transmission fluid fill and drain plugs. If a leak is present, inspect the plug threads, bores, and O-rings. Repair as necessary.
