Muffler Inlet Pipe: Removal

NOTE: Muffler inlet pipes will vary in configuration with different wheelbases and powertrains. Typical application shown in illustration.

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting .
NOTE: Install new clamp if necessary.

NOTE: Make sure the location of the clamp and the tab during assembly is same as before disassembly.

Loosen the clamp.

Torque

: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

1. NOTE: Make sure that a new nuts are installed.
  
  Remove and discard the nuts.
  
  Torque
  
  : 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
2. Remove the hanger bracket bolts.
  Torque
  
  : 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

NOTE: During assembly, make sure the tab is fully seated in the notch on the pipe.

Disconnect the isolator and remove the muffler inlet pipe.

NOTE: Make sure that a new gasket is installed.

Remove and discard the gasket.
