Pinpoint Test M: The BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) Off RTT (RECONFIGURABLE Telltale) Indicator Is Never Or Always On

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See BLIS Off RTT Indicator. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - System Operation and Component Description .

    If the cross traffic alert left status, cross traffic alert right status, side obstacle detect status-left or side obstacle detect status-right messages are missing or invalid for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the BLIS off RTT indicator to the last state (on or off), based upon the last message received.

    If the cross traffic alert left status, cross traffic alert right status, side obstacle detect status-left or side obstacle detect status-right messages are missing or invalid for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the BLIS off RTT indicator off.

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • GWM concern
    • SODL concern
    • SODR concern
    • IPC

  2. M1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION

    • Ignition ON.

    • Close all doors, tailgate and the hood.

    • Clear all message center warnings by pressing the OK button for each warning present.

    • Monitor the door ajar RTT indicator.

    • Open the driver door.

    • Clear the message center popup warning.

    • Monitor the door ajar RTT indicator.

    Is the door ajar RTT indicator off with the door closed, and on with the door open? 

    Yes  GO to  M2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test A 

  3. M2 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .
    No  GO to  M3

  4. M3 PERFORM THE SODL (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE LH) OR SODL (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE LH) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the SODL or SODR self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Blind Spot Information System .
    No  GO to  M4

  5. M4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CM DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network .
    No  DIAGNOSE the BLIS. REFER to: Blind Spot Information System .
