Pinpoint Test CI : U3003:17

  1. CI1 CHECK FOR OVERCHARGING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) SET IN OTHER MODULES

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform self-test on all modules.

    • Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.

    Is DTC B1317, B1676, P0563 (PCM), U3003:17 or U3006:17 set in more than one module? 

    Yes  DIAGNOSE the overcharging condition. REFER to: Charging System .
    No  GO to  CI2

  2. CI2 CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE

    • Turn off all interior/exterior lights and accessories.

    • Start and run the engine at approximately 2, 000 rpm for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage.

    Does the battery voltage rise to 15.5 volts or higher? 

    Yes  DIAGNOSE the overcharging condition. REFER to: Charging System .
    No  GO to  CI3

  3. CI3 RECHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U3003:17

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the continuous memory DTCs.

    • Carry out the IPC self-test.

    Is DTC U3003:17 present? 

    Yes  IPC Guided Routine Testing
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set previously during battery charging or while jump starting the vehicle.
