RTT Indicators
Blind Spot Monitoring System (BLIS) Off
The IPC provides a RTT indicator to inform the driver that the Blind Spot Monitoring System (BLIS) is turned off. The IPC receives the cross traffic alert left status and cross traffic alert right status messages from the SODL and SODR through the GWM over the HS-CAN3.
Brake System
The IPC provides a brake system RTT warning indicator for the following concerns and status:
- low brake fluid level
- parking brake status and faults
- ABS concerns that display along with the brake warning indicator operation
When the parking brake is applied, the BCM sends the parking brake status to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends the message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the brake warning indicator and turn on the parking brake applied message in the message center.
When a low brake fluid level condition exists, the BCM sends the brake fluid level low message request to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends the message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the brake warning indicator and turn on the brake fluid level low message in the message center.
When an ABS or parking brake system concern exists, the ABS module sends the brake (red) warning indicator request message to the GWM over the HS-CAN2. The GWM sends the brake (red) warning indicator request message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the ABS warning indicator and to turn on the check brake system message center warning display.
Charge Cord Connected (PHEV Only)
The IPC provides the charge cord connected RTT warning indicator to indicate the charge cord is still connected. If the vehicle is plugged in, a vehicle start into a torque producing mode is prevented. If a vehicle start is attempted in this case, the vehicle functions as normal (engine may start, climate control will be operable, etc), except no wheel torque is provided and the vehicle cannot be shifted out of Park (because the vehicle is plugged in). If the plug status from the SOBDM to the SOBDMC is missing or unknown, then a message asking the customer if the vehicle is plugged in is displayed in the message center. The driver can then provide the plug status through the message center and the vehicle can be started if the driver states it is not plugged in. If a fault condition exists in the system, the default of the charge cord connected status is plugged in.
The IPC receives the check plug to start display request and the charge cord connection status messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the check plug to start display request and the charge cord connection status messages from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
Charging System
The IPC provides a charging system RTT indicator indicating the status of the base charging system. When a fault is present in the charging system, the BCM sends the charging system indication request to display message center warning messages and the charging system RTT warning indicator.
The IPC receives the charging system indication request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the charging system indication request message from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.
Cruise Control
The IPC uses the following messages to control the cruise control RTT indicator.
- cruise control status,
- cruise control set speed
- cruise control override
When the ECO mode is active, the cruise control system allows a wider range of vehicle speed loss before accelerating to maintain the selected speed for better economy. The IPC receives the cruise control messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the cruise control messages from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
Door Ajar
The IPC provides a door ajar RTT indicator to indicate the status of the doors or luggage compartment lid. The BCM monitors each of the ajar inputs and sends a door ajar status message to the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The IPC receives the door ajar status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN1 to display the specific ajar RTT warning indicator.
Eco Mode (Full HEV Only)
The IPC provides the eco mode RTT indicator to inform the driver that they have selected the most fuel efficient driving mode. When the driver presses the eco mode switch to turn on the eco mode function, the PCM sends the economy mode indication message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The IPC receives the economy mode indication over the HS-CAN3.
Engine/Motor Over-Temperature
The IPC provides a RTT warning indicator to alert the driver the engine or motor (hybrid) is over temperature. The IPC receives the engine overheat indication request, engine coolant temperature data and the Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) over-temperature indication (hybrid) from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the engine over-temperature message from the PCM and the motor over-temperature message from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
Grade Assist
The IPC provides a grade assist RTT indicator to indicate the vehicle is in grade assist mode. The IPC receives the transmission shift mode request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the transmission shift mode request message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
Hazard
The IPC provides a hazard RTT indicator in the form of a triangle to inform the driver that a transmission hazard may exist and a powertrain shutdown may be imminent or may have already occurred. The IPC uses the battery warning indicator request message and the HEV service required display request to control the hazard RTT indicator.
The IPC receives the battery and transmission messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3.
The GWM receives the HEV service required display request message from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
The GWM receives the battery warning indicator request message from the BECM over the HS-CAN1.
Low Fuel
To supplement the fuel gauge indication, the IPC provides the low fuel message center warning indicator. When the DTE reaches less than approximately 50 km (30 miles) DTE (without MyKey® key) or 80 km (50 miles) DTE (with MyKey® key), the IPC turns on the low fuel message center warning indicator.
Low Oil Pressure
The engine oil pressure switch is hardwired to the PCM. The PCM provides the engine oil pressure indicator request and engine rpm data to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The IPC receives the oil pressure warning indicator request and engine rpm data from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The IPC requires engine rpm above 400 rpm before the message center displays the low oil pressure RTT indicator.
Police Dark Car Mode
The police dark car feature disables activation of couresy lamps and/or alarm due to a door unlock, door ajar or removing the key from the ignition cylinder. The IPC provides the police dark car mode RTT indicator to inform the driver the dark car mode is activated. The dark car mode is enabled and disabled in the message center.
Police Idle Mode
The police idle feature allows the driver to leave the engine running with the door unlocked while preventing an unauthorized user from operating the vehicle. The IPC provides the police idle mode RTT indicator to inform the driver that the police idle mode is activated. The IPC receives the police idle mode status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the police idle mode status message from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.
Police Pursuit Mode
The police pursuit mode allows the transmission to switch from normal, fuel-saving operation to the pursuit mode when aggressive driving is detected, based on vehicle acceleration, deceleration and braking. The IPC provides the police pursuit mode RTT indicator to inform the driver that the vehicle is operating in the police pursuit mode. The IPC receives the police pursuit mode status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the police pursuit mode message from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
Powertrain Malfunction (Wrench)
The IPC provides a powertrain malfunction (wrench) RTT indicator to indicate the following concerns:
- Internal BCM faults
- Crash notification event fault
- Restraints impact signal fault
- Crash detection circuit fault
- Fuel pump circuit fault
- Push button fault
- Battery monitor fault
- Electronic Throttle Control (ETC)
- High voltage battery system
- High voltage battery charger system
- HEV powertrain control system
- Transmission
The IPC receives all the required messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3.
The GWM receives the body service required message from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.
The GWM receives the engine service required message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
The GWM receives the HEV transmission service required message from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
Ready To Drive
The IPC provides a ready to drive RTT indicator, which is a redundant indication to the ready to drive indicator. The ready to drive RTT indicator is displayed under 2 conditions. The first condition is when the vehicle is placed in START and can be reset or may time out. The second condition is when the vehicle is in START and the driver door is opened. The second condition is also accompanied by a single tone chime.
The IPC receives the ready to drive request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the ready to drive request message from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
