Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS): Removal

- With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
- Loosen the fitting and disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tube.
- Remove the bolt and the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube.
- Inspect the transmission case to be sure that the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube seal and backing ring were removed with the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube and are not stuck in the transmission case. If the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube seal or backing ring is stuck in the transmission case, remove the seal and backing ring.
- Remove the nut and position the ground cable aside.
- Loosen the fitting, remove the bolt and remove the transmission fluid cooler outlet tube.
- Remove the retainers and the engine undershield.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler hose secondary latches.

NOTE: Use suitable paper to absorb any escaping fluid.
Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid cooler. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).
- Loosen the fittings and remove the transmission fluid cooler outlet and inlet tubes.
