Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS): Installation

  1. Position the transmission fluid cooler outlet and inlet tubes and tighten the fittings.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  2. Connect the transmission fluid cooler tubes to the transmission fluid cooler.

  3. Install the transmission fluid cooler hose secondary latches.

  4. Install the engine undershield and the retainers.

  5. Install the transmission fluid cooler outlet tube and the bolt.

    1. Seal (7D285) Inspect the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube band seal for damage. Lubricate the band seal with clean transmission fluid and install a new band seal if necessary.
    2. Backing ring (7J324) Inspect the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube backing ring for damage. Lubricate the backing ring with clean transmission fluid and install a new backing ring if necessary.

      Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (WSS-M2C938-A) (MERCON® LV,)

    3. Position the transmission fluid cooler outlet tube and tighten the fitting.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

    4. Position the transmission fluid cooler outlet tube and tighten the bolt.

      Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

  6. Connect the ground cable and tighten the nut.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  7. Install the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube and the bolt.

    1. Backing ring (7J324) Inspect the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube backing ring for damage. Lubricate the backing ring with clean transmission fluid and install a new backing ring if necessary.
    2. Seal (7D285) Inspect the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube band seal for damage. Lubricate the band seal with clean transmission fluid and install a new band seal if necessary.

      Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (WSS-M2C938-A) (MERCON® LV,)

      Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

  8. Connect the transmission fluid cooler tube and tighten the fitting.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  9. Install the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  10. Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check .
