Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 2.0L EcoBoost (184kW/250PS) - MI4: Installation

  1. Install the cooler side bypass valve tubes and position the clamps.

  2. Connect the cooler side cooler bypass valve tubes and tighten the fittings.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  3. Install the active grille shutter. Refer to: Active Grille Shutter .
  4. Install the transmission side cooler bypass valve tubes and tighten the fittings.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  5. Inspect the transmission fluid cooler tube assembly backing rings and seals for damage and install new backing rings or seals if necessary.

    1. Backing ring (7J324)
    2. Seal (7D285)

      Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (WSS-M2C938-A) (MERCON® LV,)

  6. Install the transmission fluid cooler tube assembly and the bolts.

    Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

  7. Connect the transmission fluid tube quick connect couplings.

  8. Install the transmission fluid tube secondary latches.

  9. Install the engine undershield and the retainers.

  10. Position the selector lever cable, install the bolts and connect the cable to the transmission manual lever.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  11. Install the transmission tube assembly bolt to the transmission.

  12. Connect the transmission fluid cooler tube from the transmission fluid warmer and install the bolt.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  13. Inspect the transmission-to-transmission fluid warmer tube backing rings and seals for damage and install new backing rings or seals if necessary.

    1. Backing ring (7J324)
    2. Seal (7D285)

      Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (WSS-M2C938-A) (MERCON® LV,)

  14. Install the transmission-to-transmission fluid warmer tube, the studbolt and the bolt.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  15. Connect the ground cable terminal from the transmission-to-transmission fluid warmer tube stud bolt and install the nut.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  16. Install the battery tray support bracket, the nut and the bolt.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  17. NOTE: Do not install the air cleaner at this time.

    Install the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .

  18. Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to: Selector Lever Cable Adjustment - 2.0L EcoBoost (184kW/250PS) - MI4 .
  19. Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check .
