  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
  3. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  4. Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
  5. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  6. Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill .
    • Remove the drain bolt and drain the engine oil. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

    • Install the oil drain bolt.

      Torque:

      21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

  7. Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Strap Wrench

  8. Remove the A/C compressor belt. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt .
  9. NOTE: Do not excessively bend or twist the exhaust flexible pipe. Failure to follow these instructions may cause damage to the flexible pipe.

    Support the exhaust flexible pipe with a support wrap or suitable splint.

    • Remove and discard the nuts.

    • Position aside the exhaust system.

  10. Remove and discard the gasket.

  11. Remove the front subframe. Refer to: Front Subframe - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS) .
  12. Install the cooling module support panel and the bolts to support the cooling module.

    Torque:

    18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

  13. Remove the stud bolt and position the ground cable aside.

    1. Release the tabs.
    2. Lift and position the top part of the junction box aside.

  18. Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid cooler. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).

    1. Detach the cable from the transmission control lever.
    2. Remove the bolt and position the cable aside.

  19. Disconnect the brake booster tube from the intake manifold.

  20. Disconnect the fuel supply tube. Refer to: Spring Lock Couplings .

  22. Position aside the coolant hose clip.

  24. If equipped.

    • Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.

  25. Detach the hose retainer and disconnect the engine vent hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  40. Using the special tools, separate the LH halfshaft from the transmission. Use Special Service Tool: 100-001 (T50T-100-A) Slide Hammer., 205-241 (T86P-3514-A) Remover, Halfshaft., 205-290 (T89P-3415-B) Remover, Halfshaft (Plate).

  41. Remove and support the LH halfshaft from the transmission.

  42. Using the Powertrain Lift and Adjustable Mounting Arm, secure the engine to the lift table. Use Special Service Tool: 300-OTC1585AE Powertrain Lift. Use the General Equipment: Adjustable Mounting Arm. Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block

  43. Remove the bolts, the nuts and the engine mount.

    • Remove the accessory drive belt.

    • Release the accessory drive belt tensioner.

    2. Remove the starter motor control wire nut and position aside the wiring.

  68. Remove the transmission-to-engine bolts.
