- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
- Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill .

- Remove the drain bolt and drain the engine oil. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
- Install the oil drain bolt.
Torque:
21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
- Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Strap Wrench
- Remove the A/C compressor belt. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt .

NOTE: Do not excessively bend or twist the exhaust flexible pipe. Failure to follow these instructions may cause damage to the flexible pipe.
Support the exhaust flexible pipe with a support wrap or suitable splint.

- Remove and discard the nuts.
- Position aside the exhaust system.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Remove the front subframe. Refer to: Front Subframe - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS) .
- Install the cooling module support panel and the bolts to support the cooling module.
Torque:
18 lb.ft (24 Nm)
- Remove the stud bolt and position the ground cable aside.

- Release the tabs.
- Lift and position the top part of the junction box aside.
- Release the tabs and open the cover.
- Remove the nuts and disconnect the cables.
- Remove the bolts and detach the wire harness retainers.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube secondary latches.
- Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid cooler. Use Special Service Tool: 307-569 Disconnect Tool TOC Line (1/2).

- Detach the cable from the transmission control lever.
- Remove the bolt and position the cable aside.
- Disconnect the brake booster tube from the intake manifold.
- Disconnect the fuel supply tube. Refer to: Spring Lock Couplings
.
- Disconnect the fuel vapor tube. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling
.
- Position aside the coolant hose clip.
- Disconnect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- If equipped.
- Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
- Detach the hose retainer and disconnect the engine vent hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Disconnect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Disconnect the coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

- Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector and detach the retainer.
- Disconnect the PCM electrical connector.
- Detach the wire harness retainer.
- Remove the bolt and position the degas bottle aside. Detach the coolant hose retainer.
- Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector and detach the wire harness retainer.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector and detach the wire harness retainer.
- Remove the nut and position aside the bracket.
- Remove the A/C compressor nut and the stud.
- Remove the bolts and position aside the A/C compressor.
- Remove the transmission bolts.
- Remove the engine bolt.
- Remove and discard the halfshaft retaining nuts and the bearing strap.
- Remove and support the RH halfshaft from the transmission.
- Using the special tools, separate the LH halfshaft from the transmission. Use Special Service Tool: 100-001 (T50T-100-A) Slide Hammer., 205-241 (T86P-3514-A) Remover, Halfshaft., 205-290 (T89P-3415-B) Remover, Halfshaft (Plate).
- Remove and support the LH halfshaft from the transmission.
- Using the Powertrain Lift and Adjustable Mounting Arm, secure the engine to the lift table. Use Special Service Tool: 300-OTC1585AE Powertrain Lift. Use the General Equipment: Adjustable Mounting Arm. Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block
- Remove the bolts, the nuts and the engine mount.
- Remove the transmission support insulator nut.
- Lower the engine and transmission from the vehicle. Use Special Service Tool: 300-OTC1585AE Powertrain Lift. Use the General Equipment: Adjustable Mounting Arm. Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block
- Detach the HO2S wire harness retainer.
- Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.
- Disconnect the CMS (catalyst monitor sensor) electrical connector.
- Remove the bolts and the exhaust manifold heat shield.
- Remove the exhaust manifold bracket bolts.

- Remove and discard the nuts.
- Remove the exhaust manifold.
- Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket.
- Remove and discard the exhaust manifold studs.
- Remove the bolts and the exhaust manifold bracket.
- Remove the bolts and the front axle shaft bearing bracket.

- Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counter clockwise.
- Remove the accessory drive belt.
- Release the accessory drive belt tensioner.
- Position aside the generator cable protective cover.
- Remove the nut and disconnect the generator electrical connectors.
- Remove the bolts and the generator.
- Disconnect the EGR valve coolant hose. Detach the hose retainer and remove the coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

- Remove the starter motor cable nut.
- Remove the starter motor control wire nut and position aside the wiring.
- Remove the nut and the ground cable.
- Detach the wire harness retainers.
- Disconnect the TSS sensor electrical connector and detach the wire harness retainer.
- Disconnect the transmission electrical connector and detach the wire harness retainers.
- Detach the wire harness retainer.
- Detach the wire harness retainers and remove the wiring harness.
- Remove the stud bolts and the starter motor.
- Remove the starter motor insulator.

NOTE: Only rotate the crankshaft in a clockwise direction.
Remove and discard the torque converter nuts.

- Install special service tool.
- General Equipment: Spreader Bar Use Special Service Tool: 300-OTC1819E 2, 200# Floor Crane, Fold Away.
- Remove the transmission-to-engine bolts.
- Remove the engine-to-transmission bolts and remove the engine from the transmission.
- Install Special Service Tool: 307-566 Retainer, Torque Converter.
