Oil Pan: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  3. Remove the oil level indicator.

  4. Disconnect the HO2S and CMS (catalyst monitor sensor) electrical connectors, detach the wire harness retainers.

  5. Remove the bolts and the exhaust manifold heat shield.

  6. NOTE: To prevent damage to the transmission, do not loosen the transmission-to-engine bolts more than 5 mm (0.19 in).

    Loosen the transmission-to-engine bolts.

  7. Detach the wire harness retainers.

  8. NOTE: To prevent damage to the transmission, do not loosen the transmission-to-engine bolts more than 5 mm (0.19 in).

    Loosen the transmission-to-engine bolts and the stud bolt.

  9. Remove the retainers and the engine undershield.

  10. Remove the A/C compressor belt. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt .
  11. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector and detach the wire harness retainer.

  12. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.

  13. Remove the nut and position aside the bracket.

  14. Remove the A/C compressor nut and the stud.

  15. Remove the bolts and position aside the A/C compressor.

  16. Remove the retainers and the shield.

    1. Remove the roll restrictor bolts.
    2. Position aside the roll restrictor.

  17. Remove the engine bolt.

  20. Separate the engine from the transmission.

    • Remove the oil drain bolt and the drain the engine oil. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

    • Install the oil drain bolt.

      Torque:

      21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

  21. Remove the engine front cover-to-oil pan bolts.

  22. Remove the bolts and the oil pan.

  23. Clean and prepare the RTV sealing surface. Refer to: RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning and Preparation .
