Front Seat Lumbar Assembly: Removal

  1. Remove the front seat. Refer to: Front Seat  .
    • If equipped. Release the lumbar knob retaining clip and remove the lumbar knob.

    • If equipped. Release the height adjust handle locking tab and remove the height adjust handle.

    • If equipped. Release the recline handle retaining clip and remove the recline handle.

  2. Remove the side shield screws.

  3. Remove the side shield.

    1. Lift up on the rear of the side shield and pull outward.
    2. Push the side shield forward.
    3. If equipped. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  4. NOTE: Power seat shown, others similar.

    Detach the electrical connector retainers and position the wire harnesses aside.

  5. Detach the backrest cover straps and position the backrest cover upward.

    1. Remove the pin-type retainers.
    2. Detach the hook-and-loop strips.
    3. Lift the backrest cover flap.

  6. Position the front seat backrest cover.

    1. Release the J-clip.
    2. Position the backrest cover from between the seat cushion and backrest cushion.

  7. Remove the backrest cover insert.

  8. NOTE: Use care when separating the backrest trim cover from the hook-and-loop strips or the hook-and-loop strips may be torn from the backrest foam.

    Partially invert the backrest cover enough to access the hog rings.

    1. Release the hook-and-loop strips.
    2. Invert the backrest cover.

  9. Remove the pin-type retainers from the deployment chute wrap and begin feeding it through the backrest foam.

  10. Pull the deployment chute wrap out of the backrest foam.

  11. Lift the backrest cover and release the J-clips from the lumbar wires and backrest frame.

  12. Position the manual lumbar assembly cable away from the seat track.

    • Disconnect the cable from the manual lumbar actuator.

    • Detach the cable retainers from the seat track.

  13. Remove the lumbar assembly.

    • Release the lumbar assembly cable retainer.

    • Detach the lumbar assembly J-hooks.
