Transmission Fluid Level Check

Check
- Connect the diagnostic scan tool to the vehicle. Monitor the TFTPID.
- With the engine running in PARK on a level surface make sure the transmission is at normal operating temperature 85-93 deg. C (185-200 deg. F). If necessary, drive the vehicle until the transmission is at normal operating temperature 85-93 deg.C (185-200 deg.F).
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: 1.5L EcoBoost Air Cleaner . Refer to: 2.0L EcoBoost Air Cleaner .
- Release the clamp and remove the transmission vent.
- Install the air cleaner. Refer to: 1.5L EcoBoost Air Cleaner . Refer to: 2.0L EcoBoost Air Cleaner .
- Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.
- With the engine running in PARK, remove the transmission fluid leveling plug and check if transmission fluid seeps out of the transmission fluid leveling plug hole.
- If the transmission fluid does not seep out of the transmission fluid leveling plug hole, add clean transmission fluid in increments of 0.25L (0.5 pt) until the transmission fluid is even with the transmission fluid leveling plug hole. Use the General Equipment: Funnel
Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® ULV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-12-QULV (WSS-M2C949-A,) (MERCON® ULV)
- Install the transmission fluid leveling plug.
Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
- Install the underbody shield and the retainers.
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: 1.5L EcoBoost Air Cleaner . Refer to: 2.0L EcoBoost Air Cleaner .
- Install the transmission vent.
- Install the air cleaner. Refer to: 1.5L EcoBoost Air Cleaner . Refer to: 2.0L EcoBoost Air Cleaner .
