Indicators and RTT Indicators
ABS Warning
The IPC receives the ABS warning indicator request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the ABS warning indicator request message from the ABS module over the HS-CAN2. If a fault condition exists in the ABS, the ABS module sends the ABS warning indicator request message to either flash or illuminate the ABS warning indicator or RTT indicator.

ABS/Brake/Stability-Traction Control System Indication
The brake/stability-traction control system indication is controlled almost entirely by the ABS module. The ABS module can illuminate multiple indicators for various fault conditions. The following table provides a summary of the basic fault conditions and the indicators that are illuminated for each condition.

Adaptive Cruise Control
The IPC provides a cruise control RTT indicator that appears as an image depicting a vehicle on the road with lines indicating the selected following distance to the vehicle in front. The IPC receives the adaptive cruise control follow mode display and adaptive cruise control gap display messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the adaptive cruise control follow mode display and adaptive cruise control gap display messages from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.
Airbag Warning
The IPC receives the airbag warning indicator request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the airbag indicator request from the RCM over the HS-CAN2. If a SRS concern is detected, the RCM sets a DTC and the IPC illuminates the airbag warning indicator or RTT indicator.
Auto High Beam
The IPC provides the auto high beam RTT indicator to indicate the auto high beam is active. The IPC receives the auto high beam indication request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the auto high beam indication request message from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.
Auto Hold
The IPC provides the auto hold RTT indicator to indicate the state of the auto hold feature. The auto hold feature holds a vehicle stationary once it has come to a complete stop, using the brakes, allowing the driver to remove his or her foot from the brake pedal. The IPC receives the auto hold mode indicator request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the auto hold mode indicator request message from the ABS module over the HS-CAN2.
Auto Stop-Start
The IPC provides the auto stop-start indicator or RTT indicator, along with multiple messages displayed throughout the auto stop-start system operation, to inform the driver of the system status and to provide direction when driver intervention is required. The IPC receives the stop-start standby indicator request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the stop-start standby indicator request from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
The auto stop-start indicator informs the driver of the following states:

Blind Spot Monitoring System (BLIS®) Off
The IPC provides a BLIS off RTT indicator to inform the driver the BLIS is turned off. The IPC receives the CTA left status, CTA right status, side obstacle detect status-left and side obstacle detect status-right messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the CTA left status and side obstacle detect status-left status from the SODL, and the CTA right status and side obstacle detect status-right messages from the SODR over the MS-CAN.
Brake Warning
The brake warning indicator or RTT indicator informs the driver the brake fluid level is low, there is a failure in the base brake system or the parking brake is applied. The IPC uses messaged inputs to control the brake warning indicator or RTT indicator.

The IPC receives the brake lamp request and parking brake (red) warning indicator request messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3.
The GWM receives the brake lamp request and parking brake (red) warning indicator request from the ABS module over the HS-CAN2.

Charge Warning (12-Volt Battery)
The IPC provides a charging system indicator or RTT indicator along with message displays indicating the status of the charging system. When a fault is present in the charging system, the BCM sends the battery low state of charge message to display message center warning messages and the charging system indicator. The IPC receives the battery low state of charge message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the battery low state of charge message from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.
Cruise Control
The IPC uses the following messaged inputs to control the cruise control RTT indicator and set speed display:
- cruise control status
- cruise control set speed display
- cruise control override
The IPC receives the cruise control messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the cruise control messages from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
Door, Liftgate, Hood Ajar
The IPC provides a door ajar indicator or door, hood and liftgate RTT indicator along with message displays to indicate the status of the doors, liftgate and hood. The BCM monitors each of the ajar inputs (driver, passenger, left rear, right rear, liftgate and hood) and sends a door ajar status, liftgate ajar status or hood ajar status message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The IPC receives the door ajar, liftgate ajar or hood ajar status messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3 to display the door ajar indicator or the specific door, liftgate or hood ajar RTT indicator and corresponding warning message.
Drive Mode - Normal, Sport, ECO, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Sand/Snow
The IPC provides a drive mode RTT indicator when a specific drive mode is selected. The IPC receives the selectable drive mode status, selectable drive mode request and active drive mode status messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the selectable drive mode status, selectable drive mode request and active drive mode status messages from the ABS module over the HS-CAN2.
Electric Park Brake
The electric park brake indicator or RTT indicator illuminates when a fault in the electric park brake system is detected. The IPC receives the parking brake (yellow) warning indicator request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the parking brake (yellow) warning indicator request message from the ABS module over the HS-CAN2.
Engine Over-Temperature Warning
The IPC provides an indicator or RTT indicator to alert the driver the engine is over temperature. The IPC receives the engine overheat indication request and the engine coolant temperature data from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the engine overheat indication request and the engine coolant temperature data message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
Electric Vehicle (EV) Charge (PHEV)
The IPC provides an Electric Vehicle (EV) Charge RTT indicator that illuminates when the driver selects Electric Vehicle (EV) Charge mode and the feature is active. The IPC receives the Electric Vehicle (EV) charge mode status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the Electric Vehicle (EV) charge mode status message from the BECM over the HS-CAN1.
Electric Vehicle (EV) Later (PHEV)
The IPC provides Electric Vehicle (EV) Later RTT indicator that illuminates when the driver selects Electric Vehicle (EV) Later using the Electric Vehicle (EV) selection switch. The IPC receives the electric vehicle (EV) later mode status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the electric vehicle (EV) later mode status message from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
Electric Vehicle (EV) Now (PHEV)
The IPC provides Electric Vehicle (EV) Now RTT indicator that illuminates when the driver selects Electric Vehicle (EV) Now using the Electric Vehicle (EV) selection switch to turn on the Electric Vehicle (EV) mode. The IPC receives the electric vehicle (EV) now status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the electric vehicle (EV) now status message from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
Fog Lamp - Front
The IPC provides a front fog lamp indicator or RTT indicator to indicate when the front fog lamps are on. The IPC receives the front fog lamp indicator request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the front fog lamp indicator request message from BCM over HS-CAN1.
Fog Lamp - Rear (Except North America)
The IPC provides a rear fog lamp indicator or RTT indicator to indicate the rear fog lamp is on. The IPC receives the rear fog lamp indicator request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the rear fog lamp indicator request from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.
Forward Collision Warning
The IPC provides a forward collision warning system indicator and message center message to warn the driver the vehicle is rapidly approaching another vehicle, and a collision event is possible. The IPC receives the forward collision warning indicator request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the forward collision warning indicator request from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.
Frost Warning (Except North America)
The IPC provides a frost warning RTT indicator when the outside air temperature is favorable for slippery road conditions. The IPC receives the outside air temperature status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the outside air temperature status message from the HVAC module over the MS-CAN.
Hazard (HEV)
The IPC provides a hazard indicator or RTT indicator to inform the driver that a vehicle hazard may exist and a powertrain shutdown may be imminent or may have already occurred. The indicator appears in the form of a triangle or a vehicle with an exclamation point (China). The IPC receives the HEV battery warning indicator request and HEV transmission warning indicator request messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the HEV battery warning indicator request message from the BECM and HEV transmission warning indicator request message from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
High Beam
The high beam indicator or RTT indicator informs the driver the high beams are on. The IPC receives the high beam status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the high beam status message from the BCM module over the HS-CAN1.
Hill Descent Control
The IPC provides a hill descent control RTT indicator to indicate when the HDC is in ready mode, active control mode, or in an over-temperature mode with the system cooling. The IPC receives the hill descent control indicator request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the hill descent control indicator request message from ABS module over HS-CAN2.
Hill Start Assist
The IPC provides a hill start assist indicator and RTT indicator to indicate when the a system fault is detected. The IPC receives the hill start assist status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the hill start assist status message from the ABS module over the HS-CAN2.
Lane Departure Warning
The IPC provides a lane departure warning indicator and RTT indicator to indicate the system is off. The IPC receives the lane keeping system status display message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the lane keeping system status message from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.
Lane Keeping Aid
The IPC provides the lane keeping aid on RTT indicator or graphic to indicate the lane keeping system has been turned on or is active, and a lane keep assist RTT indicator to indicate the vehicle is drifting outside the traffic lane. The IPC receives the lane keeping system active display and the lane keeping system status display messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the lane keeping system active display and lane keeping system status display messages from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.
LH/ RH Turn Signal/Hazard
When the multifunction switch is in the LH or RH turn position or if the hazard switch is on, the BCM sends the left turn lamp on request or the right turn lamp on request to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM sends the left turn lamp on request or the right turn lamp on request to the IPC over the HS-CAN3. Upon receipt of the applicable turn signal on/off message, the IPC flashes the turn signal indicator on and off.
Lights On
When the parking lamps are turned on, the BCM sends the park lamp status message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The IPC receives the park lamp status message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate the lights on indicator or RTT indicator.
LED Low Beam Malfunction
The LED low beam malfunction indicator or RTT indicator lluminates when the LED bulb in the headlamp is not functioning correctly. The IPC receives the headlamp low beam out message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the headlamp low beam out message from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.
Low Engine Oil Pressure Warning
The IPC uses the engine oil pressure warning indicator request and engine RPM data to control the low engine oil pressure indicator or RTT indicator. The engine oil pressure sensor is hardwired to the PCM. The PCM provides the engine oil pressure warning indicator status request and the engine RPM data to the GWM over the HS-CAN1. The GWM provides the engine oil pressure warning indicator status request and engine RPM data to the IPC over the HS-CAN3. The IPC requires engine RPM above 400 RPM before the message center displays the low engine oil pressure warning.
Low Fuel
To supplement the fuel gauge indication, the IPC provides the low fuel warning indicator or RTT indicator.
The IPC uses the low fuel warning indicator request message sent from the PCM through the GWM to control the low fuel indicator.
When the DTE is 120 km (75 miles) (for MyKey®) and 80 km (25 miles), 40 km (25 miles), 20 km (10 miles) and 0 km (0 miles) for all keys, the low fuel indicator illuminates.
Low Washer Fluid Level
The low washer fluid level switch is hardwired to the IPC through a single signal circuit and is grounded through a separate ground circuit. The IPC provides a reference voltage to the washer fluid level switch. When the washer fluid is low, the washer fluid level switch opens, pulling the reference voltage high. When the IPC detects the washer fluid input is an open circuit, it illuminates the low washer fluid level RTT indicator.
MIL
The IPC receives the MIL request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the MIL request from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
Motor Over-Temperature (HEV)
The IPC provides a RTT indicator to alert the driver the motor is over temperature. The IPC receives the motor over temperature indicator request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the motor over temperature indicator request message from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
Overspeed Warning (Gulf Cooperative Countries [GCC])
The IPC provides an overspeed warning indicator or RTT indicator when the vehicle speed has reached or exceeded the 120 km/h (75 mph) threshold. The IPC receives the vehicle speed message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the vehicle speed message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
Powertrain Malfunction (Wrench) Warning
The IPC provides a powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator or RTT indicator to indicate transmission, Electronic Throttle Control (ETC), AWD, BCM and hybrid system (if equipped) concerns.
The IPC provides a powertrain malfunction (wrench) warning indicator to indicate:
- a BCM concern.
- a gearshift concern.
- a powertrain concern (Electronic Throttle Control [ETC]).
- a transmission concern.
- a HEV system or high voltage battery charging concern.
The IPC receives all applicable messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3.
The GWM receives the body service required message from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.
The GWM receives the engine service required and the transmission service required messages from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
The GWM receives the GSM service required message from the GSM over the HS-CAN2.
The GWM receives the HEV service required from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
PRNDL/PRNDM
The IPC uses the following messages to control the PRNDL or PRNDM:
- Battery shed level request
- Ignition status
- Park lock control status
- Transmission gear display
- Transmission gear display mode
- Transport mode
- Vehicle speed
The IPC receives all messaged inputs from the GWM over the HS-CAN3.
The GWM receives the transmission gear display, transmission gear display mode and vehicle speed messages from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
The GWM receives the ignition status, transport mode, battery shed level request and park lock control status messages from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.
When the vehicle is in transport mode or during battery load shed operation, the PRNDL or PRNDM is not displayed upon entry or exit from the vehicle to prevent battery drain during longer periods of time when the vehicle is not in use, such as those experienced during vehicle transport.
For vehicles equipped with a shift lever, the IPC uses a park position detect switch (part of the selector lever) input to signal the IPC the shift lever is fully seated in the PARK (P) position. The IPC compares the park position detect switch input with the transmission gear display message sent from the PCM.
Ready to Drive (HEV)
The ready to drive indicator or RTT indicator informs the driver the vehicle is ready to be driven. Since the engine may turn on and off at different times during operation, the ready to drive indication helps eliminate the potential for the driver to interpret the engine turning off as a stall or other failure condition. The IPC receives the ready to drive indication request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the ready to drive indication request message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
Rear Seatbelt Monitor
The IPC provides a rear seat belt monitor RTT indicator to indicate a rear seatbelt is not fastened. The IPC receives the driver rear seatbelt buckle status, passenger rear seatbelt buckle status, and rear center seatbelt buckle status messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the driver rear seatbelt buckle status, passenger rear seatbelt buckle status and rear center seatbelt buckle status messages from the RCM over the HS-CAN2.
Seatbelt Warning
The RCM monitors the driver and passenger seatbelt positions through the seatbelt buckle switch. The RCM provides the driver seatbelt buckle status and passenger seatbelt buckle status messages to the GWM over the HS-CAN2. The GWM provides the driver seatbelt buckle status and passenger seatbelt buckle status messages to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to either turn on or turn off the seatbelt warning indicator or RTT indicator.
SelectShift® Gear Position
The IPC provides a gear position RTT indicator when SelectShift® is activated. The IPC receives the transmission gear display message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the transmission gear display message from the PCM over the HS-CAN1.
Speed Limit Sign Recognition
The IPC provides a speed limit sign RTT indicator using sign recognition data from the IPMA. The IPC receives the traffic sign recognition status request from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the traffic sign recognition status request from the IPMA over the HS-CAN2.
Stability-Traction Control (Sliding Car Icon)
The stability-traction control (sliding car icon) indicator or RTT indicator informs the driver of the current status of the stability and traction control systems. The stability-traction control indicator illuminates when a fault condition exists or when an active traction control or stability control event is occuring. The IPC receives the stability-traction control indicator request message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the stability-traction control indicator request message from the ABS over the HS-CAN2.

Traction Control Disabled (Sliding Car OFF Icon)
The stability-traction control is configured on/off from the console mounted switch. When the driver enables or disables the stability-traction control system, the ABS module sends the traction control off indicator request message to the GWM over the HS-CAN2. The GWM sends the traction control off indicator request message to the IPC over the HS-CAN3 to illuminate or turn off the stability-traction control disabled (sliding car OFF icon) indicator or RTT indicator based upon the system state.

When a MyKey® administrator has set the AdvanceTrac® feature to always on and a MyKey® programmed key is in use, the stability-traction control system cannot be disabled. The menu selection in the message center used to disable the stability-traction control system does not display when a MyKey® is in use, but remains active for the MyKey® administrator to select the AdvanceTrac® always on feature off. The stability-traction control indicator still functions normally to indicate a stability-traction control system fault and a stability-traction control active event.
TPMS Warning
The IPC receives the tire pressure warning indicator message from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the tire pressure warning indicator message from the BCM over the HS-CAN1.
If the BCM determines the tire pressure has exceeded the low tire pressure limits, the tire pressure warning indicator request message is sent to the IPC to illuminate the TPMS warning indicator or RTT indicator.
If a TPMS monitor or sensor fault condition exists, the BCM sends the tire pressure warning indicator request message to the IPC to flash the TPMS warning indicator. The IPC flashes the TPMS warning indicator for 75 seconds then turns the indicator on solid.
Vehicle Plugged In (PHEV)
The IPC provides a vehicle plugged in RTT indicator that illuminates when the vehicle is plugged into a charging source. The IPC receives the check plug to start display request and charge cord connection status messages from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the check plug to start display request and charge cord connection status messages from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
