Rear Brake Caliper: Removal

NOTE:
If the fluid is spilled on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.

NOTE: Service actions on vehicles equipped with electronic parking brakes may cause unexpected parking brake application, which could result in injury to hands or fingers. Put the electronic parking brake system into service mode prior to servicing or removing rear brake components. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
Activate the EPB service mode. Refer to: Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) Service Mode Activation and Deactivation .
- Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
- Remove the brake caliper spring.
- Disconnect the EPB actuator motor electrical connector.
- Remove the brake caliper flow bolt, washers and position the brake hose aside. Discard the washers.
Torque
: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
- Remove the brake caliper pin bolt caps.
- Remove the guide pin bolts and the brake caliper.
Torque
: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

NOTE: Brake pads with adhesive on the insulator are one-time use only. When the brake pads are separated from the brake caliper, new brake pads must be installed to prevent brake noise and shudder.
Separate the brake pad from the brake caliper. Remove and discard the brake pad.

Separate the inboard brake pad from the brake caliper. Remove and discard the inboard brake pad.
- Remove the bolts and the EPB actuator motor. Discard the bolts.
Torque
: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
- Remove and discard the O-ring.
