Instrument Panel Upper Section: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to: Instrument Panel .
  2. Release the clips and remove the LH trim panel.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

  3. Release the clips and remove the trim panel.

  4. Remove the bolt and the display unit.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  5. Remove the bolts, release the clips and remove the center instrument panel trim panel.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  6. Remove the bolts and the center HVAC register.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  7. Release the clips and remove the lower finish panel.

    1. Release the stop and fully lower the glove compartment.
    2. Remove the glove compartment check strap.

  8. Lift the glove compartment off the hinges remove.

  9. Remove the bolts, release the clips and remove the glove box close out.

    Torque: 36 lb.in (4.1 Nm)

  10. Remove the bolts, release the clips and remove the lower trim panel.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  11. Remove the steering column gap hider.

  12. Remove the bolts, release the clips and remove the IPC trim bezel.

    Torque: 33 lb.in (3.7 Nm)

  13. Remove the bolts, and the IPC.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  14. Remove the bolts and the brace.

    Torque: 33 lb.in (3.7 Nm)

  15. Release the clips and remove the instrument panel speaker grille. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  16. Release the clips and remove the HUD trim panel. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  17. Remove the bolts and the HUD.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

  18. Remove the bolt the RH register.

    Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  19. Remove the bolts and the lower steering column trim panel.

    Torque: 17 lb.in (1.9 Nm)

  20. WARNING: Do not reuse steering column nuts. This may result in fastener failure and steering column detachment or loss of steering control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).

    Remove the steering column.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector's.

    • Detach the harness pushpins.

    • Remove and discard the steering column nuts.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    • Remove and discard the steering column bolt.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  21. Remove the screws and position the APIM down.

    Torque: 27 lb.in (3 Nm)

  22. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the APIM and bracket.

  23. Disconnect the electrical connectors and detach the harness pushpins.

  24. Remove the bolts.

    Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  25. Remove the HVAC case bolts.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

    1. Remove the bolts.

      Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

    2. Remove the bolts.

      Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

    3. Disconnect the electrical connector and detach the harness pushpin.

  26. Remove the front instrument panel upper section bolts.

    1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    2. Detach the harness retainers and position aside the electrical harness.
    3. Remove the rear instrument panel upper section bolts.

  27. NOTE: To avoid damaging the upper section, the aid of an assistant is required to carry out this step.
    NOTE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the upper section or damage to the components may occur.

    Remove the instrument panel upper section.
