Fuel System Pressure Release

Pressure release 

  1. Raise front of the rear load floor up and out of the way.

  2. 2.Raise the left front corner of the left load compartment floor support up and out of the way.

  3. Disconnect the fuel pump driver module electrical connector.

  4. Start the engine and allow it to idle until it stalls.
  5. After the engine stalls, crank the engine for approximately 5 seconds to make sure the fuel rail pressure has been released.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  7. Disconnect battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Cables - 2.5L Duratec - Hybrid (121kW/164PS) (BG) .
  8. When the fuel system service is complete, reconnect the Fuel Pump Control Module electrical connector.

  9. Reconnect battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Cables - 2.5L Duratec - Hybrid (121kW/164PS) (BG) .
  10. Cycle the ignition key and wait 3 seconds to pressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks before starting the engine.
  11. When service on the high pressure fuel system (high pressure pump, fuel injectors and fuel rail) is completed, start the engine and check for leaks.
