Parking Brake Caliper: Removal

NOTE: Do not allow grease, oil, brake fluid or other contaminants to contact the brake pad lining or brake disc. If contamination is on the brake pad lining or brake disc surface, do not clean with metal brake parts cleaner and/or shop towels. Clean the surface using isopropyl alcohol wipes.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. WARNING: Service actions on vehicles equipped with electronic parking brakes may cause unexpected parking brake application, which could result in injury to hands or fingers. Put the electronic parking brake system into service mode prior to servicing or removing rear brake components. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

    Activate the EPB service mode.

  2. Remove wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  3. Disconnect the parking brake caliper electrical connector.

  4. Remove and discard the clips.

    1. Remove the brake pad pins.
    2. Remove the spring

  6. Remove the parking brake pads.

  7. Remove the bolts and the parking brake caliper.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
