Removal And Installation: Hood: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Detach the windshield washer hose coupling.

  2. Detach the windshield washer hose retainers from the RH side hood hinge and cowl panel.

  3. NOTE: LH side shown, RH side similar.

    Index-mark the hood hinge location to aid in hood installation.

  4. NOTE: An assistant is necessary to support the hood.

    Remove the clips and the hood struts.

  5. NOTE: An assistant is necessary for the support and removal of the hood.

    Remove the nuts and the hood.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  6. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the retainers and the hood insulation.

  7. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Release the retainers, couplings and remove the windshield washer hose and the washer jets.

  8. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the nuts and the striker latch.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    Remove the hood bump stop rubbers.

    Remove the retainers and the hood pad assembly.
