Instrument Panel Upper Section: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to: Instrument Panel  .
  2. Remove the instrument panel speaker grille. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  3. Remove the bolts and the instrument panel speaker.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  4. NOTE: Touch screen FCIM shown, others similar.

    Remove the bolts and the FCIM.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  5. NOTE: Touch screen FDIM shown, non-touch screen FCDIM similar.

    Remove the bolts and the FDIM.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  6. Remove the bolts and the ACM.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  7. Remove the bolts and the upper instrument panel storage bin.

    Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  8. Remove bolts, release the clips and remove the IPC bezel.

    Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  9. Remove the bolts and the IPC.

    Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  10. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  11. Remove the headlamp switch.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

    • Remove the bolts.

      Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

    • Through the opening, push the tabs down and detach the clips.

  12. Pivot the driver knee airbag down, separate the knee bolster clips and remove the driver knee airbag.

  13. Release the clips and remove the glove compartment finish panel.

  14. Open the glove compartment.

  15. Detach the glove compartment damper.

  16. Release the tabs and fully lower the glove compartment.

    1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    2. Remove the bolts.

      Torque: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)

    3. Remove the screws.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

    4. Release the clips and remove the glove compartment. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  17. Remove the screws and the lower steering column shroud.

    Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  18. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  19. NOTE: Vehicles with power adjustable steering column.

    Detach the retainer, disconnect the power tilt motor and power telescopic motor electrical connectors.

  20. Disconnect the deployable column electrical connector.

  21. NOTE: Do not reuse steering column bolts. This may result in fastener failure and steering column detachment or loss of steering control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).

    Remove and discard the bolts and remove the steering column.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  22. Remove the engine start stop button.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

  23. Remove the 2 screws, release the clips and remove the lower instrument panel trim panel.

  24. Remove passenger airbag to cross car beam bolts.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  25. Remove the HVAC to instrument panel upper section bolts.

    • Detach the wiring harness from the instrument panel upper section and position aside.

      Torque: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)

  26. NOTE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the instrument panel upper section or damage to the components may occur.

    Remove the instrument panel upper section to in-vehicle cross beam bolts and remove the instrument panel upper section.

    Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)
