Battery Energy Control Module B (BECMB): Removal
WARNING:
The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow all notes and steps carefully. Failure to follow step instructions may result in incorrect operation of the restraint system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.NOTE: The PMI process must begin with the current BECMB installed. If the current BECMB does not respond to the diagnostic scan tool, the tool may prompt for As-Built Data as part of the repair.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the BECMB following the on-screen instructions.

WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Ignition must remain OFF until repair is complete. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.
If a SRS fault is present, continue to Step 3. Otherwise, turn the ignition off, wait at least one minute and continue to Step 4.
- Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering .
- For vehicles except police. Remove the floor console. Refer to: Floor Console .
- Police vehicles. Remove the bolts, nuts, release the harness retainers and remove the plate.
Torque: 55 lb.in (6.2 Nm)

- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the nuts.
Torque: 19 lb.in (2.2 Nm)
- Remove the BECMB and bracket.
- Remove the pin-type retainers and separate the BECMB from the bracket.
